Wow, I ate Chinese food without knowing it was the Asian New Year.

But yeah, yesterday was the day! Ate dinner with my grandparents at home, watched a movie with 'em and cut the first slice of cake.

Today was time with my mom--our weekly Chinese-gorging ritual, really. Good thing I jogged today, all I gotta say! :biggrin:

Tonight's gonna hafta be YOYO (you're on your own).

I have a private session for my part of the adult b'nai mitzvah service in May with the rabbi tonight at 6:00 pm, and with Beorn being off routine due to a four day week both this week and last week I got no practice in at all.

Last night's dinner was largely a very good Danish (where's Prebe?) blue cheese with cranberries, on crackers with olives and salami, and a reasonable red wine.

It was meant to be late lunch, but was so good it turned into dinner as well. ;)

Tonight is bangers and mash. (Pork and herb sausages). with fried baby leeks, mushrooms, and onions. With a bit of broccholi thrown in too. and onion gravy.

And because I had a lovely long lie-in, it's a combination breakfast lunch and dinner for me!

I think I had two pieces of cranberry toast and Cheetos--at least the Cheetos were baked, kinda like me at a certian point. :biggrin:

Birdseye tomato and basil chicken fillet strips, with egg fried rice. A little plain, but it's alright. I don't usually have rice, but I've had it two days in a row now.

Tonight I made pasta. Fusilli, with a tomato-y amatriciana-y sauce, with onion, lots of garlic, a green chilli, chorizo, mushrooms, pak choi (bok choi), cherry tomatoes, sugar snap peas.

Was lovely.

I haven't tried the Usinger bratwurst; don't want to pay the shipping costs for them and they're not available locally. We got FIL a Usinger summer sausage one year for Chr-stmas, and he really enjoyed that memory from his childhood!

It's been rainy here, so I made a big pot of great northern bean soup with carrots, onions, and celery. It was very yummy. :D

And in honor of Persian New Year (March 21st) I made baklava for the first time. I can only stand to eat a small sliver of the stuff since it's so sugary and rich. I served some to my friends and they said it was actually very good. :biggrin:

I can't say that I cooked, but I will say what I had for dinner. My friends and went to Red Robin, and I had the gardenburger. It was very tasty, and I only ate about 1/3 of my fries (pommes frites/chips) that came with it. I think I made a very healthy and relatively low-cal choice. Go me. :D

I put together a lasagna with grilled (on my Showtime) Johnsonville mild Italian sausage sliced and used as layers between the sauce, noodles, and cheese mixture in honor of Paul's and my 19th anniversary today. I'll serve it with field greens with extra virgin olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and my pepper mill for addng fresh cracked pepper.

The Lubavitch Rebettzin here in Gator Town gave birth to her fifth child last week, a third boy. The bris milah, followed by a festive buffet dinner, is tonight at 5:30. Since we'll be there, that will be dinner.

Time to find another UF-themed onesie...

Still, I hope your buffet is better than my dinner was. A Frankie & Bennys opened here a few months ago and we thought we'd check it out tonight. It was OK I suppose, but I would never willingly spend money there again!

Rebbetzin = wife of the rabbi
bris milah = the physical aspect of the covenant of Abraham, it is considered a life cycle event like a bar mitzvah or wedding and a big party surrounds it
