Feeling like I've hit the stage performance jackpot this season. Riverdance in June, Geriant Wyn Davies in Richard III in March, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead in May, Fiddler on the Roof in November, and I get to see Great Big Sea in concert in April... Now if I could just find somebody doing Mr. Roberts within a couple hundred miles of here (and Merlin help me, I'll even take a high school production!), I will die happy.

Except I won't, 'cause someone already did Mr. Roberts here in '04, and I missed it, which means it won't get done again around here for years. Years, dammit!

*sigh*

[Edit: there's also Hamlet sometime late in the season. But still no Mr. Roberts. *doublesigh* ]

Reminds me of the 9 or so plays my study abroad group saw in Britain last May-June! I'm remembering that the last play was Hay Fever, starring Judi Dench. Was quite a treat to see her!

Also saw a neat rendition of Romeo & Juliet in Stratford-upon-Avon. Instead of using swords for duels they employed a combination of rhythmic dancing and tapping wooden canes/quarterstaffs.

I'm feeling good.

For the first time in around six months or so, I could read outside in the park!

I was actually warm, OUTSIDE! I know!

I also turned in my application for Best Buy, again. My old supervisor wants me back, and I am SO happy about it. I need WORK!

Keep your fingers crossed for me, guys and gals!

It's not a good week... professionally speaking, I was forced to halt part of my project because the new lot of antibodies didn't work, and we won't get a new one until April at least; additionally, the animal facility has been going downhill, and lots of strange things are happening there - they don't know whether animals are pregnant, they don't fulfill orders sent to them, and so on, which simply slows down the project even more.

As for personal life, it turns out that I got bad news about my cousin, and as if it weren't enough, I haven't heard from the girl I'm pursuing for the last four days, because, according to a common friend, she "needs some time alone" due to her being "oppressed by my insistence". I can't deny that I've insisted on a few things, but they were little ones, and didn't do it out of malice - and intentions should count, shouldn't they? The common friend tells me my chances are still good, but that doesn't really cheer me up, since I haven't talked with this girl since saturday, and she's also the only person who would really cheer me up in the middle of this week...

Damn. Well good luck Xar. Unfortunately, I suspect that intention doesn't weigh as much as perception, but I truly hope things work out well.

I suspect as much, Av... what really kills me is that I can't do anything, though. I can't talk to her because she might feel further "oppressed" if I tried to contact her when she apparently wants to be alone; the best I can do is to send a noncommittal message for Woman's Day, tomorrow, to show her that I care and to imply that I miss her and I'm here if she wants to talk, but then I'll have to be silent again until she shows up. But I really wish she had talked to me before taking this step - I'm a rather straightforward person, and I'd much rather solve problems by talking about them, than through this kind of situations (which do not actually solve problems, only postpone them, since I still have no clue how right the common friend was about the reason for her silence).

Perhaps say something to that effect in your message...indicate that the next contact / step must be up to her whenever she's ready.

Arrgg...women...

But patience can pay off my friend. I'm living proof that it is possible.

I was basically just planning to send her the wishes, hint that I'll wait for her to do the next step, and perhaps let her know I miss her. I don't deny patience can pay off, I just wish she had talked with me about it before deciding to disappear for a little while. I understand this is the easiest way, but it's not the right way, or so I think... and she should know that, since I care about her, her sudden disappearance without explanations is hurting me. And honestly, I don't think that any of the instances of my "insistence" were serious enough to warrant sudden disappearance.

I'm sure it wasn't. But as I've learned to my cost, if she thinks it was, then it's the same as if it really was.

Your plan sounds about the best possible one under the circumstances.

Probably so, but given that it mostly happened through SMS, and people know that SMS tend to often cause misunderstandings, one would think she would give it the benefit of the doubt... at least enough to actually talk with me first, and try to figure out if that is really what I meant...

No harm, no foul. I appreciate everyone's concern.

Yay, Alynna! And good luck, Xar.

Here's what I have learned today: Never eat salad out of a plastic bag. Even with a plastic fork. (The puddle of balsamic vinegar on my desk is all cleaned up now...)

Batty stepped on a tennis ball in tennis class today and re-injured her ankle. She says it swelled up but it doesn't hurt. The athletic trainer looked at it, told her how to treat it, and got her an appointment for the student clinic for tomorrow. So she's in good hands.

Ex-brother-in-law is definitely flying here to help the ex move out. Hopefully he and the girls can talk the guy into getting some counseling, at least.

It's snowing, but not really sticking. And I've gotten rid of all 3 of my attorneys for the day, yay! So on the whole, life is not bad.

Xar, my 2 cents: just be patient and cool. Don't send any message, no matter how well-innteded. Give her the power she needs in this moment. It'll be an investment that you will appreciate the dividends from for a long time forthwith!

Yeah, the best thing you can do is give her the space she needs. If she's already feeling overwhelmed any further actions on your part is just going to exacerbate the situation and push her farther away. Be patient my friend.

This reminds me of when I was 25. I had been on and off dating a girl for over a year, and while I was sure I wanted our relationship to grow more serious, she couldn't make up her mind. At a dinner with a couple who was friends of ours, they suggested we take a break from each other for a month. I actually had an easier time than she did with it at first; the end result is we never dated again, but within a year we both had met the person we ended up marrying...over all, I think it was a good thing for us to do.

But, I have to tell you, if she started off like this girl of yours has, I'd have dumped her in a heartbeat!

There's a better way to put this: Ignore her.

Ignore her long enough and she'll call you. If she doesn't then she wasn't interested in the first place.

I agree with Wadders here. It's a hard thing to do, but it's probably the best thing to do.

I've been feeling lousy all week. Since last Friday I've been feeling nauseated all day (which has finally disappeared this morning and, fingers crossed, will stay that way! YAY!). I wrote off my weekend (thanks to a silly full-on drinking session--dumb Seareach!) and haven't felt brilliant since. No one to blame but myself, I guess.

Naughty Drinky Drinky Sea! I hope you feel better.

I also agree with Wadders and Seadrinky-dink. If you keep pushing her she's just gonna keep pushing you away. Ignore her and if it's meant to be she will come around. I know this doesn't make it easy so huge hugs to you in the meantime.
