I saw Clay live. it was like being at a brown shirt youth rally. the energy made your hair stand on end. i don't remember if it was funny or not, just that my gf at the time really liked him and the crowd went nuts.

I've been watching 'bring the pain' by Chris Rock. Hysterical. He also broaches subjects that a lot of other comedians (particularly black one's) wouldn't dare.
It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Woody Allen's old stand-up was hilarious. we're talking old stuff, back in the 60's.

George Carlin's 70's stuff is top notch, with "Class Clown" being one of the best stand-up albums ever.( it won a grammy, if i remember correctly)

Cosby's early stuff, like the "Why Is There Air" album or his routines about Noah, is great.

Pryor was great, though not as funny now when i listen to him as when i was a teenager.

Eddie Murphy's "Delirious" is an all-time great comedy album.

Steven Wright's "I Have a Pony" album is a laugh a minute and i always loved his style.

Richard Lewis did one great stand-up, imo, with his "I'm Exhausted" tour, and never attained that level again, though that routine had me in stitches.

Bobcat Goldthwait's stand-up back in the 80's, right after he did Police Academy 2, was really really good.

Chris Rock, maybe the best of the 90's.

Dave Chapelle is one of the funniest ever, imo, and not only are his stand-ups great his show is one of the best sketch shows ever too.

What, no Gallagher?
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

Robin Williams tops my list, even now that he is clean.
also in the top ten for me would be :

Bill Cosby
Richard Pryor, loved it when teamed with Gene Wilder
Ron White
Eddie Murphy - RAW was awesome
Drew Carey
Jeff Dunham - with Peanut
Carlin is also in there

And yes I DO Like Gallagher, been to two of his shows.
Yes I guess we can all just get along !

Smurfy, simply Smurfy !!!

Who have I seen recently...
Dave Chappalle is obviously one of the best and he's got integrity. Jim Gaffigan is pretty damn funny. Check out "Beyond the Pale". I still get a good laugh out of Lewis Black and while Colbert is not purely a stand up comic his biting shots are great.

"Hither came Conan, the Cimmerian, black-haired, sullen-eyed, sword in hand, a thief, a reaver, a slayer, with gigantic melancholies and gigantic mirth, to tread the jeweled thrones of the Earth under his sandalled feet."

Aside from Sam K, the funniest comedian I ever saw was [the recently late] Richard Jeni.

Jenni's another one that just doesn't do it for me.

I remember Platypus Man (Jeni). That was one of the funniest things I've ever seen.

Loved old Eddie Murphy (Uncle Gus cracked me up).

Bill Cosby (I got the cookie for you, Daddy!)

Ahhhh, good times! :D

Dylan Moran is coming to NZ soon. I've never seen his stand-up, but I love Black Books, so I'll be going.
You do not hear, and so you cannot be redeemed.

In the name of their ancient pride and humiliation, they had made commitments with no possible outcome except bereavement.

He knew only that they had never striven to reject the boundaries of themselves.

I've been doing a lot of Youtubing recently and I came across a guy called Stewart Lee. He did the Melbourne Comedy festival last year. There's not a huge amount of his stuff out there but what I see I like.

Moran's pretty good, but Bill Bailey's better. Bailey is truly unique.

He may even rival my previous nominee, Billy Connelly. 8O
