LUCAS TO MAKE 2 MORE STAR WARS FILMS

Post by aTOMiC »

The article states that the films will be made for tv and only one hour long a piece. It also reports that the movies will not involve the Skywalker family. One person that comments in the discussion below the article exclaims "Please, God... no more Made-for-TV Ewok movies."
I heartily agree but there are worse things that could happen. I just have 3 words for you...Jar Jar Binks. Nuff said.

I disbelieve.

There may besome made for TV movies ... but George Lucas wouldn't make them, no one could pay him enough and keep it feasible.

I recall mention of a Star Wars TV thing planned back in 05, when Sith had just hit. I guess if it's only two episodes they're really scaling it back. Would've been cool to have a Band of Brothers-quality, Star Wars mini-series.

Oh well. Maybe they'll still make a Fire and Ice mini-series. I believe they are, if I recall my last perusal of the GRRM forum.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_live-action_TV_series

"According to official reports, the series will be set during the 19 year timespan between the films Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope. It will focus primarily on minor characters of the Star Wars galaxy, rather than the main ones seen prominently in the films. These minor characters will be both from the films and the Expanded Universe. However, Lucas has stated that some of the main characters may make cameo appearances."

I expect this could be cool. Depends on how they handle it. I'm always starving for more Star Wars so I'm a built in fan but they could lose me if things go the wrong way. Seems we have 2 years to wait and see.

I'll watch them. :D A mini-series would be even better though.

As Guns said......I'll watch them, but I can't get too excited about this. I'd rather see more animation series like The Clone Wars cartoons, only this time focusing on Sidous and Vader (perhaps showing Vader hunting down the remaining Jedi.)

Personally I don't want to see any more of the hideously cheezy animation like the Clone Wars cartoons.

How much money does GL have? Why such terrible drawing? Ugh...

Personally, I enjoyed the animation of The Clone Wars, especially when compared to other recent cartoon series (Teen Titans comes to mind.)

I'll watch the series. At the beginning, anyway. No promises after that.

A live-action Star Wars TV show should certainly provide good fodder for discussion. It will be another way to compare Star Wars with Star Trek, because, dammit Jim, I'm obssessed with comparing the two.

Star Wars may rule the box office, but the small screen is Star Trek's turf. It will be interesting to see how the quality of SW on TV compares to ST: TNG, a show that remains for many the "gold standard" of sci-fi television. I don't dispute it, I thought ST: TNG had some awesome episodes - standalone episodes which I could appreciate, without having to endure a friggin' 22-episode story arc just to understand what the hell is going on. But a huge, rambling story arc appears to be de rigeur for TV dramas now, so I expect Star Wars will follow suit.
