Whenever everybody gets up? MagickMaker and I are flexible.

But seriously, folks: if we're aiming at arriving in Albuquerque by 6pm, we should plan to leave Denver no later than, what, 10am I think?

If there are just 4 of us -- and you and Damelon are staying at the same hotel, yes, Waddley? -- it should be pretty easy for us to connect up on Friday morning.

Yes ma'am! We're staying at the same place :) Also, our planes are arriving at almost the same time. Yay!

Mostly I asked because I wanted to know how late I can stay up Friday night :) Not that I will... but I'd like to know what options I have.

Well, it's up to Damelon as he's the driver...but I think a 10am start would be plenty early, if we're aiming for Danlo's by 6pm.

Wadds, why can't I find y'all's Denver hotel info...? Is it in the other thread? Arrgh, would you mind pm'ing it to me? Thanks!

Only two weeks away! I'm excited! Hey I should have a pretty good tan when y'all get here, working on the yards and now my new project: Fixing the swamp-cooler and the roof! Oy vey! I got the swamp-cooler going in no time flat yesterday--no problems-then I woke up to water on my ankle at 5:30 this morning-it was leaking through the flippin' overhead light! 8O

The heavy snows and our big rains in Nov and Dec must have bowed the roof a bit--and the drain to the swamp cooler needs to be fixed as it leaked and filled up a pool above our bedroom. My Home Depot guys recommended a quick fix which involves cleaning out the cooler floor, coating it with Bondo and sticking the underside part of the drain with it too. Then I need to take my 50lb tub of asphalt/fiberglass up to the bow and level the roof out. I love a challenge!

We took a day trip on Saturday up to Santa Fe for the rare "prickly pear" marguaritas at The Shed near the plaza. On the way back we went through Los Alamos to Jemez. Great news!! The fire danger is moderate right now and Andelian is much greener than 3 years ago. Bandelier, Jemez Falls and the hot springs are all open now-so... :cross:

The plaque and the film crew are all go right now-I'll know the crew's details this Satuday when they come down for a BBQ-we may have a fancy new BBQ by then. Oh and we can now take 6 people with us to the Land (Jemez) as we traded in Ahira (my old t-bird) in for an '06 Hundai Tuscon-a very cute little SUV.

I haven't heard anything from the reporter-but that may be a good thing-as SRD may not want one there. Romeo asked him about it-and a good thing too because SRD, apparently, wasn't sure E-fest was actually a go...I guess he wanted confirmation after he accepted-IT"S ALL JENN"S FAULT!!!!

But, don't have a coniption-he'll be there and you'll have to forgive Jenn-she probably got too excited about wrapping up FBH 8)

HEY! I emailed him and got a confirmation for the date!
Dear Jenn--

I'll put it on my schedule--and once I do that, I treat it as sacred. So yes, I can join you all for dinner.

Be well!

Dear Steve,

The watchers have asked me to get a firm confirmation that you can make dinner with us on June 2nd. Can you let me know as soon as possible? I would appreciate it.

OK I stand corrected! Maybe SRD's too preoccupied with stuff and wanted a reminder or something...I don't know...but it doesn't matter now. BTW thanks for all your efforts! (now tell your friends to elope and get the hell down here!! :P)

He may have been confused about the date still being set in stone when I emailed him to tell him I couldn't make the Elohimfest after all. I thought I was pretty clear about the date remaining the same regardless of my attendance. But it all worked out so no worries.

Sort of a topic change ... maybe needs a new topic.

I'd love to get a book signed by SRD at the Elohimfest. And my impression is that everyone and even the author assume that this is going to take place and it's a no-brainer. (Tell me if I am wrong!)

I know that there's a lot of people who've met SRD before and had their books signed, so maybe they can answer some dumb questions I have. Like:

Should I ask or expect him to personalize what he signs? Or should I just expect to get his autograph?

And ... this is a weird one ... my wife bought me a Golancz Runes on e-bay a couple of years ago, signed by SRD, no dedication ... it'd be a treat to my wife as well as to me if he would 'personalize' the same book ... is that a waste, or is it tasteless, or what?

He's written To (my first name)- on a couple of books, but I could sort of tell he wasn't too thrilled about it...not like G. R. R. M. saying "Keep your sword sharp" on A Clash of Kings or Walter Jon Williams putting "Have a totally 'urban' day!" on Metropolitian-no cute little things like that.

I was just kidding about coming down from Denver. The conversation was getting a bit ... interesting. So I joked that I was going to cancel my plans to fly directly to Albu. in order to ride in the middle of the back seat on the way down from Denver. :-)

I'll be going into Albu. on Friday morning, and collecting some others there to take to the hotel.
And then the ravens pecked out his eyes.

Ok, I actually wasn't planning on asking him to, but now I REALLY won't.

Fine. I didn't want to share my seat anyways. :(

He HATES it with a passion ... although he did so for me. LOL

The story is this:

For Runes, I asked Romeo to have him sign to Peter "Creator" Purcell ... and the write something personal. Now this was BEFORE SRD published a note in the GI saying how he HATES that. Well, Romeo came back without any note.

About the same time a Watcher in the UK was attending a SRD signing ... and offered anyone who wanted to purchase one, a signed UK edition of Runes. Not, at this time, knowing about SRD's dislike .. I made the same request to our UK brother.

He told me later that "Steve seemed to know you."

Here's what he wrote in the book:
SRD wrote:To Peter "Creator" Purcell

On another note - how many vehicles do we need to transport everyone? I'm renting a car, and I believe Romeo is as well. Danlo has his SUV, and Damelon is driving a rental down. Will we be able to move everyone around?
