Awesome pics.

Got some AWESOME pics of Steve and company -- He was really relaxed and forthcoming, gave some of the most direct answers I have heard of him giving. We also got to see the cover art for Fatal Revenant!!!! but we cannot yet post those pix -- cover will blow you guys away.

BOO! HISS!
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

:::sigh:::

Blame me.

I was the one who asked Romeo towards the end of the interview if SRD realized with all the pictures of the cover art that were taken (with permission) of both the British and American version that they would most likely be posted on the Watch before night's end. I'm guessing that prompted the question if doing so would be OK.

Sorry y'all.

Just posted several new pics to the album. We had a great time last night!

Here's my report - Iquestor, Romeo and I were downstairs in our hotel waiting for Waddley to come down so we could leave for the restaurant; we waited a little longer than planned because Waddley had fallen asleep (we just thought she was being a girl and taking forever to get ready!) But we called her and woke her up, and she came down and we took off for the restaurant.

We arrived at the Cooperage, and SRD and his wife arrived, and the shortly after Vardeman and his son arrived and the festivities began. We ate well, the food was really good! Danlo started the show by introducing Vardeman, who had us rolling in the floor with laughter.....I won't post what he said since eventually you'll get to see for yourselves when the film is ready.

SRD accepted the plaque from KW and then took the stage. He was very forthcoming, seemed relaxed and eager to answer questions. We had to stop a little earlier than we liked because a band was setting up in the next room (damn!) But SRD stayed around to sign our books and talk with us.

After that we said goodnight to SRD and drove back to Danlo's, and watched The Princess Bride. I left early (this time difference just kills me) so I'll let someone else tell you about the rest of the night.

Danlo did a fantastic job organizing this event, everything went without a hitch. He, Lady Tam and of course baby Alora are the best!

Yes, indeed, to all of the above!!

It was a great evening, with excellent questions posed and answered.

There's a lot to write about, and I don't have much time, so I think I will save further comments for a post-Elohimfest write up.

Yeah, Christy and I made it really late. Like 25 hours late. We had to switch flights from Stewart Airport, which is a few miles from Christy's house, to Laguardia in NYC, which is 80 miles away. And instead of 6am, it was 6pm. And instead of leaving at 6pm, we sat on the runway for 2 hours because of storms. So we didn't make our connection from Minneapolis to Alb Friday night. We had to spend the night in Minn, and fly to Alb - via Houston!! - the next morning.

Ok Guys, I am back in Atlanta :(

I just posted the last pics I took. I hope you all who could not come enjoy them, there is one I put up especially for Cail. ;)

The dinner was great! SRD was very relaxed and we all enjoyed him speaking. Bob Vardeman was pretty funny; I wanted to get a book signed by him too but he snuck out when I was with SRD.

SRD was I think a little humbled by the plaque and was probably very gratifying evening for him -- I hope So. Bob Vardeman kept commenting how he was amazed we all came from so far to have dinner and a few moments with Steven, and also how we all seemed so close knit.

The waitress was a Lit major at UNM At ABQ so Don and I promptly introduced her to Lord Foul's Bane and she promised to read it, another convert-in-progress. We have done our duty for SRD...

Afterward at Danlo's, everyone was glowing; we played the Princess bride even though we have all seen it a million times, everyone laughed at the appropriate places.

LuciMay and Waddley were just a riot, and no one laughs like Damelon -- if there is ever a covenant movie, he is Hyrim, Son of Hool just for his laugh and disposition!!

I stayed outside and drank and smoked a well earned cigar; I now live in a world where I have met SRD, and all is right and good.

I absolutely had a blast -- everyone was very cool and I made some new friends, definately.

Dlbpharmd, Dukka, me and a few others are cooking up a plan to maybe do a get together in the Fall around Atlanta. I will be posting in the appropriate threads about the possibility of this event. I have some ideas, and will ask those who think they could make it also for some input.

Danlo, Tam, Elora, Menolly and Co -- thanks for your hard work and great food and company. You were all wonderful hosts and thanks a million from all of us who could make it..

Mostly, what they all said. Plus...

When I got to the restaurant, the lot was full, so I had to park in the expansion lot in the back, where there were about three cars. I was just about to park next to a sedan but guess who should step out but Mr. Donaldson. So I swung around and parked a few more spaces away. I totally chickened out and just looked the other way and walked to the restaurant. Then I couldn't wait and I ran to the door, and told everyone "He's here, he's here!".

Then SRD came in with his wife, and Vardeman with his son Chris. We all applauded. We had a salad and a meal and I remember I didn't taste much of it but I had a great time at a table with Menolly and DW and Fist and Christy and not Waddley. Mostly what I remember is how uncool I was, on the inside - how emotionally affected I was - about the fact that SRD was right there. I didn't realize it would mean so much to me.

I asked a question but I was so nervous it didn't come out as suave as it was intended, but who cares because it got SRD to talk about a lot of good stuff and I appreciated and enjoyed all his answers.

I only had one book to get signed - I felt weird because everyone else brought a stack. Exchanging a few words with SRD at the signing table just totally blew me away. I am not cool. Luci and Jenn and danlo and Romeo and everyone can be all hes-just-a-nice-guy but I am soooo far from being there.

At one point in the night SRD had depricatingly referred to himself as just a writer. I almost jumped out of my seat and said, You're not just a writer! But later when he signed my book I took the chance to tell him, Sir, you're not just a writer to me.

And that's what I'll always remember most. That I got to say that.
