IMHO, Manhunt should not be banned.
After all, if this game is banned, why not every violent/scary film, book or TV show?
To me, this will not affect anyone, only people who were going to be violent anyway.
To blame a game on crimes such as murder to me seems completely wrong.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Always amusing to see an old one revived, and since I of course have an opinion, I'll contribute as well. ;)

Basically, I agree with Foul.

There. I said it. (Actually, we agree quite often I think. :D )

I think they should ban it here after I buy a copy so that it increases in worth. How's that for a moral compass?

Jokes aside, I'm a bit torn because things like do really make me uncomfortable. I remember feeling uncomfortable when Doom came out, but I had so much fun playing it that I eventually got over it. Now Doom seems like nothing anymore. However, I've never been tempted to take a human life before, so there is that.

The concept of this game does make me very uneasy, as would a Real Story videogame where you play as Angus. Games do glorify violence, but alternately, I don't think they encourage real-life violence. I'll admit that if I play a couple hours of Crazy Taxi and hop behind the wheel of my car, I do tend to drive a bit more crappily. But I can differentiate between the game and reality, and I know to not take corners as sharply as I would in that game.

I guess what I'm saying is that I see the point of the detractors, but I also disagree with banning things on several levels. Like was said before, I think people will only go so far before they realize that they have gone too far. And those that can't differentiate will go there anyway, regardless of whether there is any media like this in the world or not.

Agreed. (Incidentally, that's a tremendous book and a terrible film)

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

I just find this kind of thing rediculous, films such as HOSTEL part II are fine, but this will warp my mind.
