Interesting. I see Palencar went for one of his apparent favourites: "person up against tree".

Ah, I see the cover is now public.

And now I can finally publically say...I hate it. Heh.

Yeah, I know some of you like this guy's work, but I can't stand it.

Plus, like Murrin said, all of his work looks the same.

I mean, come on, that's the same picture as this one:

Boo for Palencar. :(

Oh well. At least the old dude in the picture isn't showing his ass.-jay

As much as I do appreciate the artistry - we got hosed on this cover.

I want to know what SRD thinks about it.

I like it.
Have no idea who it is suppose to be, but the style is nice.
For fans who sill buy the book regardless, it means little.
For those who have not yet read him, it might bring a few around to take a look.

Spoiler
Perhaps it is Anele?

It's better than I expected, but I wish I knew who it was supposed to be. Is it Covenant? It is Anele? Is it a Forestal? Is that a half-hand? Is the staff supposed to be the Staff of Law? If it is, it is wrong? If it isn't, why isn't it? haha

Oh well. Perhaps we'll get SRD's input on it soon. :)

It's not Gandalf, it's SARUMAN!!!! ;)

Hmmmm... So I think it's one of the best covers SRD's had. It's different, it's eye catching (lighter colours!), and well so he (...who ever "he" is on the cover... ;)) does look like a LOTR clone but that's not necessarily a bad thing. It "does it" for me!!! ;)

But my ultimate gripe is...where's the butt!?!?!??! (And I'm with you dlb. That pic is HOT).

Nah, I don't like it. And yeah Sea, that's who I thought it was at first. Luckily, I'll get the UK edition. Anybody know what that cover art looks like?

Hate it.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.

Full of the heavens and time.

Expecting a cover art artists to get things correct is asking a hell of a lot.

I concede the point, though. Still, it is, atleast, the right kind of wood colour for the Staff of Law.
