Perhaps I can inject a few Maggots into the existing dialog. Perhaps "Maggot" was Daemon's pet name for Orison. Or perhaps Daemon referred to everyone that way. "Hey Maggot, nice to see ya." "Can I help you across the street you sweet old maggot you?" He wouldn't make too many friends that way I imagine. No wonder he's cranky. Nah! :-)

Oh, Clear wants your criticism; in fact, I think he feeds off of it. Though there are those who call him....Tom, I know him as the Wordbane. I've been trying to keep him from realizing the full potential of his foul power for over a quarter of a century now, since first reading a very early version of "Circumstance" (BTW, if you want to glean an understanding of that story, read Marvel 2-in-1 annual 2, and Avengers Annual 7). If he has his way, nobody will ever be able to speak clearly again; instead, they'll have to put forth their meager thoughts in a metaphorically-laden, fervently verbose manner through unsteady lips that even now spew forth the failure of mere words to properly convey the sacrifices made by their ancestors. And that's just when you're trying to supersize your #6 value meal combo at the nearest fast-food restaurant. Imagine trying to say something important! But I digress; so back to my point: Now, you guys come along and give him confidence....well, you're destroying my life's work. And I'd like you to stop. Now, I know what you're thinking. That dAN guy sure is mean; why is trying to keep Clear down? Before I surrender to his power and leave the earth naked and vulnerable to complete and utter destruction at his misshapen, unwieldy hands, I leave you with this thought: In his first hundred or so stories, the good guy always loses. Usually the good guy is destroyed in a very messy manner involving the complete removal of one or more of the good guy's organs. Is this the work of a nice guy?

:haha: :haha: ever thought of writing?? LOL roflmao

well for one that has tried for a 1/4 century to dislodge the Wordbanes potential .. you do an awful lot of defending the Clear-meisters work ;)

well you make a very compelling arguement dAN ;)

however an assessment of his character was not on the agenda ;) :P

I thought I WAS writing......I guess that proves I'm incapable of it.

What the...? I actually defended Clear??? That's the power of the Wordbane, to sickly twist my words to mean something completely different! Clear, you bastard; what do you do for an encore; steal children's lunch money?

Not on YOUR agenda, perhaps....

It's not the sinews that make you creative; it's the spleen. :screwy:

I decided today to try writing a similar type of short story to this one, but it seems I got myself stuck in one of my old loops - I can never think of anything to plan ahead, so when I write I just keep going and going and can't work out how to end it...
I also seem to have developed a fear of the word 'sword'...

I imagine use of the word sword would actually felicitate the ending of just about any story. “…and with his mighty sword Garthanon smote the evil scumbag, thus ending the destructive conflict and bringing order to the galaxy.” Or something like that. At least thats how I usually end an endless plot loop. :D
