How internetty is this!? You can link your Xbox Live account to an automated blog that is updated as if your Xbox was actually writing it. I've just set mine up, but it takes a few days to start up. It would be cool if they did these for all of the consoles, but XBL is streaks ahead of the online content that Sony and Nintendo have come up with to date so we might have to wait for them to get properly up and running.

Expect to see my Xbox complaining about not being played enough by the end of the week!

It still hasn't switched on properly, but I've noticed some odd little things about the blog. Firstly, it measures the time you've spent playing particular games in whole days so my most played game is showing up as Boom, Boom Rocket which I downloaded a trial version of and played once before deciding I didn't like it. As I haven't spent more than 24 hours playing any of my games, it show up as the top game on alphabetical order!

Secondly, because the last thing I usually do is move back to the dashboard and browse Marketplace, the last game it says I've played is the Xbox Dashboard!

Uh, personally, I think it's a little creepy...the damn thing is publishing your playing habits on the web...and who knows what's next...

Yes, the implications for data mining are kind of scary. "Usage statistics" can mean anything. The reality is, they end up next to your name in the data mining databases.

One day soon (and I'm not even talking years I don't think) someone hiring you for a job is gonna have, next to your credit report, and the list of everything you purchased in the last few years, your video gaming habits.

Well, I don't suppose it should matter too much unless I'm trying to get a job from Jack Thompson. I'm also pretty sure it's data that's already freely available for anyone who has an Xbox Live account so I guess you're damned if you do, damned if you don't. I wish it would start blogging properly, I want to know what it has to say about me!
