Well, after spending six hours yesterday with Beorn at high school Freshman orientation, I really do think the Cambridge AICE magnet program was the best decision we could have made for him locally.

Not only do I believe the course work will be challenging, but as we had a schedule problem that was resolved before we left, I truly believe the guidance department will strive to do their jobs and not need to be constantly harrassed when issues arise. Right now I feel as if a huge load has been lifted off my back.

Yeah, well never denied that :P

You, Tam and those precious babies are always in my prayers. So happy little Hayden is doing so well. Such beautiful gifts children are!! :D :D

Things here are chaotic as usual. We are now in "getting ready for college" mode here. We will be moving Brooke to the Bay area in a few weeks so she can start her college life at Berkeley. She is so excited, not only because she's going but also because her Freshman English professor was also her Uncle Steve's. Berkeley has been a dream of hers since she was small, and she is so happy to be on her way there. :D
Me tho...well lets just say I will miss her terribly, and the house will seem just a bit empty come September.

Looks like Heidi will also be fast tracking. She has pretty much tested out of all of her Sophmore courses and will be stream lining into Junior level courses this next year. She is already preparing for Washington State in Pullman WA. She wants to be a Vet.

The other kids are all doing beautifully. All four boys will be in Middle School this coming year. Tristan has skipped 5th grade and will be starting 6th with Micah. Chelsea is going into 3rd grade and our sweet Imani will be in 1st. Ayize, Naaem and Stevie will all be in half day preschool and our precious Meggie will be keeping mommy company during those oh so quiet days.

Our newest member, Stefan, has been battling a bout of PCP. But he is strong and he's responding well to meds. In many ways he reminds me of Isaiah. Always talking about how he doesn't deserve all we do for him and that he has never felt so loved. He's such a sweet, gentle person.

Other family news...looks like Russell will be retiring in about 18 to 20 months. They wanted him to take an upper level position in the corporate offices back in San Fran and we talked and talked about it, but we always came back to the same conclusion...we can't leave our mountain. Sooooooo, he turned it down...again. So, they then offered him early retirment with a fantastic pension package. It will be wonderful having him home more...NO MORE AWAY TRIPS!!! :D :D We are all thrilled about it.

Anyway, that's a brief run down on what is happening in our little corner of the world. I think it's been quite awhile since I gave everyone an update on what is going on with us. :D
And I believe in you
altho you never asked me too
I will remember you
and what life put you thru.

...for then I could fly away and be at rest. Sweet rest, Mom. We all love and miss you.

Man, I can't *wait* to move West so I'll be closer to all the KW party people. How long does it take to drive from Denver to San Francisco? It shouldn't take too long -- it's only a couple of states away... ;) (I'm JOKING!)

Furls, I'm doing the drive-to-college thing this weekend, too. Batty goes back tomorrow. I've gotta pick up the urban assault vehicle from the rental place after work tonight. MagickMaker goes back Thursday. Have I mentioned this already? Can you tell I'm itching to have the apartment to myself for awhile?

It's played at half time at the Scotland (soccer) games I go to, and the atmosphere is electric during half time, with (drunk) guys (and girls) dancing and singing their hearts out.

Every time I hear it it reminds me of the games I've been to.

It's the Rod Stewart version that's played.

I've been having some strange physical symptoms over the last few months, and when I (unofficially) ran them by the psychiatric nurse practitioner that works in my office, she said she thinks I may have a endocrine disorder, and that I need to see a doctor. She recommended a new PCP for me since I won't return to my old PCP. So now I have to get an appointment. :?

Other than that, it's near 100 degrees F here, but I keep hearing thunder, so we may be in for a nice storm soon. Love those summer storms!

I have other updates, but am sure that everyone is tired of my blathering already. Meh. . .

Nice. Summer storms here too.

Well, I've been very creative today. I wrote some of my best stuff ever, recorded a good instrumental for my next album, and huffed a kitten.

How I feel today? Well, tired and happy and sad and overwhelmed. Last Wednesday my son was born, 6 weeks early. Since then he's been on ..damnit I don't know the English terms...breathing apparatus because his lungs aren't fully grown yet. He's doing OK and fighting, but we've not been able to hold him yet and he's so small, so fragile. I have confidence he'll be OK, but the day he was born he had some really bad moments and everything was such a storm of emotions. My woman is in hospital too, close to him but he's on a kind of intensive care for babies. I cannot wait to take my boy home, he's so sweet. But it'll be weeks before we can take him home...

I'm sorry it's been stressful for you :( But at least he's going to be all right! He'll be home before you know it, and soon he'll be walking, and then getting into things and causing all sorts of trouble. All in the blink of an eye :)

Speaking of reproduction- I just signed myself up for becoming an egg donor. I have a meeting to go to on Monday, and I'm very excited. I had to fill out a 18 page form about myself, family medical history, personal stuff/beliefs/interests and the like. It's all really interesting. Also, I have to attach lots of pictures of myself as a child. I'm going to go through my baby book this weekend, it'll be fun :) I was a damn cute kid.

It's something I've been planning on doing for a while, but I just got started. It's going to be a good thing. I'll be helping someone who really needs it, and more likely than not, deserves it. That's a good feeling.

I feel like something horrible is about to happen... So, just peachy.

I've been having very wierd, vivid, lucid dreams lately, which is more than a little disturbing.

We will be in Berkeley on the 25th, her semester begins the 27th. I doubt I'll be able to visit anyone in San Fran tho :( it's going to be a fast turn-around trip. We actually were there in May, taking the tour and getting Brooke familiar with the campus and so forth. At that time, we were there for 4 days. Brought back so many memories, the place hasn't changed at all since Stephen went there. We were in San Fran for a day then, visiting old friends and stopping by the hospitals.

Where abouts do you live Jenn? Stephen lived near Union Square on Geary Blvd. And we used to live in Atherton. I'm sure we will be in the Bay area alot in the coming months. We will most certainly be there on Dec 1st (as we are almost every year) for World AIDS Day.

Ah...kids...you always remember your first one!!!

Nornamlly, in the case of premature births, they end up going home very close to what was their expected birth date...a month and a half wait...it ust be very difficult, but I garentee once he's living with you for a few weeks, you'll forget what life was even like without him.

congratulation man, to all three of you.

I feel fine, other than my dad yelling upstairs about losing his house. He had the money to pay it off, but he went and got a 42-inch plasma and a dog. He never had good judgment, and the fact that he's on a gamut of pills and washing it all down with beer isn't helping.
