Yup, that's right kiddies, 2000 days ago High Lord Jay became Member #1, Vain #2, stalwarts Aliantha, Danlo and MsMary soon after, and the Watch was born.

Here's to many more days on the Watch!

How do you notice something like that? The exact number of days?

I asked dlb the same thing via AOL Instant Messenger this morning...

That's how you work it out, yes, but what made him think to check the number of days? It's not something that would occur to me to do--it's not like you see a date and think straight away of how many days it's been since a time several years since.

*nodding*

Hence me calling him a nerd... ;)

Here in the States at least, odd types of numbering to celebrate an occasion occurs frequently. I guess it gives us an excuse to party in a society that needs reasons to do so. We already celebrated the five year anniversary, this is another reason to do so again.

Actually, what brought this to my attention was a few weeks ago I was looking at the statistics page and noticed that Danlo was coming up on 2000 days (he's currently at 1996.) So, I googled a days calculator, discovered that the 2000 days mark was today, and there you go.

And, nerd that I am, at least I'm not a Pantheonite. ;)

I've been absent for alot of time now - over half of that 2000 days I would guess - but it's wonderful to know that its all still here and going just as strong (or even stronger)

Congratulations to all of you on the Watch, you're the best ;)

Good work, dlb! See, people, I'm not the only "useless stats" guy around here. :P

The 2000 Days of HLJ...I smell a biography...

Thinking about Jay's magisterial reign has put me in a reflective mood, recalling all the things I've seen during my time here. However, due to advancing senility, I've forgotten most of them. But some things I'll never forget, for as long as Jay keeps up his bribe payments. Let's see:

The day Jay made me Mod - ah, I remember clicking open the High Lord's personal message, which eerily glowed with a holy light, sanctioning me as a Moderator of Kevin's Watch. Since that day, I've successfully avoided any real work or responsibility as Mod, and I hope to maintain that consistency in the coming years. So, my thanks, great High Lord Jay! KW is indeed the finest virtual place to slack off...

Aprility Fools - the legend of AF shall never die, among those of us who witnessed his startling appearance and stirring words. Who was Aprility Fools? Mightier than the Elohim, more elusive than Amok, more intractable than Vain. Aprility Fools was beyond us all. And he (or it?) may yet return to KW at the hour of its darkest need...either to damn or to save.

The Great Banning - Jay is, as we all know, a kind and magnanimous soul who normally looks upon the citizens of the Watch with amused tolerance. But when his ire is provoked, terrible is it to behold. And so it was that the High Lord looked upon his realm one day and saw that it was being poisoned by an unremittingly hostile force. Jay's wrath was great as he wielded his weapon of last resort, the Ban Stick, the staggering power of which shook the very foundations of the Watch. The enemy was gone, but this remains a day we do not speak of...

The Great Hack - another dark time, this saw the very existence of the Watch threatened, and it was the sternest test of High Lord Jay's tenure. From a distant land, alien beings imposed their will upon the Watch and laid waste to whole regions using their own insidious magic. However, the steadiness and resolve shown by Jay and his co-leader, Alynna (who is to be greatly feared in her own right), sustained morale at the Watch. But it was Vain, with his eldritch Demondim lore, who would eventually rescue Kevin's Watch from oblivion.
