Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a good carpenter to build one.

High L-rd...

FIL is from Sheboygan, MIL from Madison. I have no choice in the matter... ;)

The only time I am allowed to voice dissent, is on the rare occasion Green Bay plays Miami, as I am a lifelong Dol-Fan...

Boy, I could make a bunch o' puns out of "the wurst capital of the world"...

I loves me some tent camping. Nowadays the gear is much lighter and the tents are easier to put up/take down -- and not as leaky, either. I've got an actual air mattress that fits in a sleeve on the bottom of my sleeping bag, so I stay comfy-warm and toasty all night.

I do campgrounds, but the RVs do drive me nuts. I'm sorry, but sleeping with A/C and waking up to coffeemaker coffee and the "Today" show (tuned in by your portable satellite dish) IS NOT CAMPING.

And you don't *have* to camp in a tent. You could use a bivy sack, or just sleep in your sleeping bag without any shelter at all. Or, at the other end of the spectrum, you could rent a cottage or cottage-like structure. The girls and I had a great vacation in Oregon one year, staying in yurts and a tepee in state parks. The yurts were $27/night -- cheaper than a Motel 6! -- plus we got trees and nature instead of, y'know, kinda sketchy mattresses and stuff. That trip was *fun*.

Yep yep yep yep yep yep yep
Uh-huh! Uh-huh!

FIL tells me there are signs that say "Welcome to..." and "Now leaving..." the wurst capital of the world as you drive in and out of the city. Apparently puns are the rage there.

Ahh, the good ol' days from Boy Scouts.
A blanket and bedding beside the campfire or just a lean-to for when it rained. I think those were the days that got me into the "hardcore" camping that I did every once in a while, (Like every 5 or 10 years)
But I still prefer a tent.
Have you hugged your arghule today?

I'll use a tent around here, but only because I don't want to go through the effort of waterproofing my shelter EVERY time I go out. And in Washington, you really have to. Rain is a garuntee no matter the weather.
