They're one of the P2 game's races, Jove--Centaurs, Dragons, Dwarrows, Fey, Fiends, Giants (thanks to Simjen), Humans, and Undead.

P3 might have more, but it all depends - some things are still in a state of flux. If P3 still uses Eiran, then it is entirely possible that any or all of the races which were created during P2 could become major races in P3.

Assigning values to areas of land would give us another way to use our power I suppose - altering the values of our enemies' lands? So a god of weather would probably be able to alter a fertility value pretty easily? Likewise a tidal wave crashing over a fertile plain might spoil it somewhat?

Regarding a more detailed map - can we have something along the lines of Google Earth, so we can sort of 'fly' over it too? ;)

And regarding the races created in P2, I've been thinking about this and (of course depending on P2 pans out) I think it'd be an idea that their outlook and how other races look upon them would be dependent on P2. For example, Simjen 'sacrificed' himself fighting Neph, so I can see the giants being a much-admired race by the rest of Eiran. Those pussycat things might be held in less regard...

Oh, ok. Thanks. I had forgotten that.

That is a really good idea.

Hmm...

Would this not lead to potential prejudicial/racist interaction? Possible cast systems? Do we want to introduce such concepts into the Game?

we have different races now and it has not caused any problems

I like the idea Stnoemaybe had regarding the giants. it would make them more like the giants of the Land.

Yes, but he also offered the flip side of the high regard for the other race he mentioned. That's what I'm calling into question.

From lurking, I almost got the feeling Tsaloga's Orcs were viewed with disdain, but as I wasn't playing when she was active I do not know for sure what went on behind the scenes. But the idea of holding one race above another is something I think needs to be considered carefully.

I think it's all in how you play your race. Even humans have very different styles of play depending on who's playing them.

Exactly!

I think it would add an extra dimension to the game! For example, if one race were to be universally scorned by the other races, and a god made overtures to that race and converted lots of them, s/he would find themselves with lots of very loyal worshippers, but would then find it much more difficult to convert the other races. Short term advantage but long term disadvantage.

I think there is a little of this now with the Undead--many of the living are disturbed by them.

Was she ever active? ;)

Anyway, race certainly doesn't seem to have much bearing in P2.

She certainly was a factor in Bhakti's battle against the Abomination...

True 'nuff.

But I think Stoney was proposing a change for P3? I admit the idea of introducing racism as a factor makes me uncomfortable, but I'm the first to admit the whole idea of ending P2 and going to P3 makes me uncomfortable...

No, she was not. She acted in a way that strengthened the Abomination, but it was insignificant in the face of Bhakti's strength at that moment. But yes, she was active.

I do not see how Xar can force anyone to act in racist/speciesist ways. We could be racists now, and we can choose to be in P3.

Yeah, yeah, yeah...

...and her action strengthening the Abomination was the opposite of what she intended...

But...if Bhakti didn't become as strong as he did at the time...

I know...speculation is moot...

If racism is incorporated into the rules, and some players choose to act upon it, would it not affect those who may choose to ignore it? I may choose to treat all races as equal under my deity's dogma, but would not the interaction of other deities towards my followers they deem as lesser beings not hinder me anyway?

I would NOT 'inject' racism.

We can all evidence prejudices. The previously described reaction to undead (especially the squishy kind who leave pieces of themselves all over the floor! :P) Or a aversion to a specific natural species - ORCS; or a made race - mutants (think of Adomorn's bloodlust attacking them!)

When you raise that to racism ... I dunno ... seems not to add 'fun' or 'challenge' to the rules.

There ARE certain parts of RL that we do NOT have to replicate!!

I think the claim that it would "inject racism" is definitely inflated. And so what if race X hates race Y in the game? Think y'all are making mountains outta molehills myself. *shrug*
