Me too, Malik.

Spare a thought for us Australians who have to wait until 25th October to get our hands on Fatal Revenant. It wont hit me that FR is really close until I start my re-read of Runes in a couple of weeks. :)

ah, looks like I'll have time to recover from celebrating Geelong's AFL premiership before Fatal Revenant hits the stores; good timing ;-)

Since I'm on a waiting list on hold at the library for FR, I bet I won't see the copy I'll get to read until even after October 25th.

Ah well...I'll just have to avoid certain areas of the Watch for awhile.

It comes out nine days later over here, so I have a slightly longer wait. I'll preorder it a couple of weeks before release: give it a chance to arrive early--as Amazon quite often delivers preorders up to a week before release.

You could just buy it, you know. If enough of us do this, rather than depending on the library, our favorite author might actually make enough money to finish this series. :)

Donaldson is the only author I support by buying all his hardbacks as soon as they come out. He has even mentioned on the GI that libraries are a necessary evil. As an aspiring author, I agree with him completely. I'd hate for something I've worked on for decades to be given out for free.

Don't mean to be judgmental, I just don't understand being a fan but not wanting to reward the source of all this literary enjoyment. Heck, I spent 10 times as much on one concert performance of my favorite band--something that only took them a night to perform--whereas Donaldson has been slaving away on this for nearly 3 years.

I understand.

I just don't have the funds available to do so.

Otherwise, I would as I agree 100% with your reasons why I should.

I understand lack of funds. I was looking at everyone's computer desk on the general discussion thread, and frankly, I'm too embarrassed to post a picture of mine. It's pathetic.

But here's another way to look at it. You've got 3 years until the next book comes out. 20 cents a week will more than pay for the next book. For the low, low price of less than a quarter week, you too can be the proud owner of the next installment in the very Last Chronicles of Thomas Covenant written by our favorite author. That's a bargain!

Anyway, like I said, I'm not trying to be judgmental. More than anything, I'm upset that Donaldson's sales are so low compared all the crap that is selling millions. I'm frustrated that his American publishers thought about dropping him after the dismal sales of Runes. And I hate it that he's considered a "has been" in the publishing industry.

But I shouldn't take that out on you. It's not your fault. I hope I didn't offend you.

I just pre-ordered Fatal Revenant.

One of the few times where I'm too excited for a long-winded post.

Now time to resume the countdown...

I briefly considered that, but as it turns out I'll have several quiet hours at home that day (I'm taking a vacation day.)
