Energy drinks?

Post by Worm of Despite »

Anybody drink 'em?

I like Rockstar Zero Carb. It's surprisingly good, for a diet energy drink--none of that chemical, gimmicky aftertaste.

Also: Zero Carb has more caffeine than most energy drinks: 120mg per 8 ounces. Still not enough to give me a buzz; I don't think anything gives me a buzz anymore. I had some Starbucks the other day and felt like taking a nap after, heh.

I tried them, and loved them...Rockstar Juiced is what I got to drinking...but I feel so guilty, because there is really no nutritional value whatsoever...about as much as regular pop. So I try not to drink them anymore....

I DID get drunk off two Red Bulls and a pint of Vodka a few weeks ago.
-it wasn't bad until the end of the night...I had the spins something fierce (worse than I should have) but yet, I could not fall asleep, so I just had endure them.
-No hangover though.

Red Bull and vodka is proof that Satan lives.

I can't drink energy drinks. Coffee is about it.

One time, on a long drive, I stopped at a gas station and bought a can of Red Bull. That is the worst tasting drink straight.

However, it's not bad with jagermeister.

Horrible stuff. Both of them. :D Red Bull & Jagermeister I mean.

My climbing partner was once upon a time sponsored by Red Bull...apparently, drinking too much of it can be very very bad for you.

I am currently drinking far too many of these things. This is my fave...

which is the LIDL own brand version of Red Bull - tastes so much nicer (not like medicine at all!) and works better and costs 24p instead of £1.19.

Vital statistics are taurine (0.38%), caffeine (0.03%), niacin 8mg, pantothenic acid 2mg, vit b6 2mg, vit b12 2mcg.

I like Sugar Free Shockwave, but it's hard to find. It tastes like Dt Mt Dew with a splash of grapefruit.

I tried Monster Low Carb - and it tastes exactly like Robitussin cough syrup. Blech!

Regular Red Bull ------ gross!

I'm a devotee of Rockstar Light (or diet, can't remember. . . whatever's in the white can!). I haven't tried others, but noticed one on a gas station today that was priced $1.09. . . may have to try that. Most range from $2-$3 in C-stores, which is a little high for me. . . and I rarely think ahead to buy a pack at the grocery. *shrugs*

Anywho, I think the Rockstar Light tastes like sweettarts (a candy here in the US).

Energy drinks are for whimps. Real masochists just take caffeine pills.

When you can down an entire 36 pill bottle of NoDoz in a 24 hour period and not die, then you, too, can enter into the hallowed halls of the Olympians.

It's nice up here.

Has your bottle of NoDoz started talking to you again?

Once upon a time a used to do the (I assume) UK equivalent, 'Pro-Plus' caffeine tabs quite regularly.

You know that strung-out feeling when you take too many, combine that with a bad mushroom/acid trip, and you get the effect given by a bottle of

This is a tonic wine, made by monks in Devon (England) but drunk in huge quantities by kids in N. Ireland and Scotland(not out of a wine glass!!!) . Alcohol percentage is about 17, IIRC, and a bottle the equivalent of about 10 pro-plus tabs.

Nowadays, the kids after the same kick can probably afford smack, so consumption has probably gone down...

Sugar Free Shockwave is still the best, but apparently the only place that sells it is the Speedway Convenience store chain, which I think is only a regional gig.

Gives the up, tastes pretty good, and no crash. Monster Lo-Carb still tastes like carbonated Robitussin. Not sure about RockStar...

For me Monster Lo Carb tastes like Rockstar but with a slightly better aftertaste. Rockstar Low Carb isn't bad, though. I typically only drink them after I have gone for a long run (and after rehydrating a little first.) Sort of like a little "pick me up" reward. Over the last two or three weeks I have lost the taste for them and stopped drinking it completely. I am sure I will go back in the future, though.

Really? To me it is Red Bull that tastes just like Sweettarts.

 Good for what ails you, as the expression goes. To me it just tastes like grape. My poor wife can't stand the smell when I open one. Like I need to give her yet another reason to stay away from me...

I prefer a good night's sleep. I recommend a Simmons Westin. :)

One cup of coffee in the morning is all I ever drink. But a quick morning cardio workout works much, MUCH better. All it takes is 10-15 minutes of vigorous cardio, and you'll get much more benefit than any energy drink.

I drink a lot of caffiene. A lot. In the neighborhood of 6+ Diet Mountain Dews a day. Yes, I know it's not good for me. Oh well.

I never really got into coffee. I've tried a few of the energy drinks when they started coming out a few years back. I never really liked any of them. Just for taste reasons. Which, I realize, raises serious questions about my taste. I mean, I just admitted to drinking diet Dew....

:P Myah, myah, myah, myah, I'm athletic and well-adjusted - I don't need an unnatural caffeine crutch, myah, myah, myah, myah.

But for the rest of us, there are over-priced, vitamin-skewed cold caffeinated energy drinks. :)

Yeah, I used to be totally off caffeine. Then they came out with Diet Coke with Lime.... Now I try to do no more than one can of pop and one cup of coffee per day, or I can't get to sleep.

I wouldn't touch an energy drink on a bet. Well, maybe on a bet -- depends on how much. But not otherwise. Those things smell nasty!

Agreed. I don't drink the Monster to get energy for the day. I just drink it because it feels good after an end-of-the-day 4 mile run. And even energy drinks don't stop me from getting to sleep so no worries there.

Despite drinking that stuff for years I had never heard about its Florida Gator origins until a year or two ago.
