A big day Sunday. Took some biuddies fishin'. Found a new beach a little more south than I usually go that was clean with good surf, I'll go there next time I go boarding, but ther weren't any fish. Took the guys to my spot and my one buddy who I just turned on to fishing landed a decent striped bass from ten foot swells; it was his first and the whole beach was in an uproar.
Here they are.

Well, since there is a race at Talladega this weekend :| and the local population will significantly multiply over the next few days  we'll either rent a bunch of movies and hunker down or head east for Atlanta. Race week sucks!

I had far too much to drink last night... a fact which was poignantly driven home while kneeling over the toilet bowl at 6AM...

CMJ forgot to mention that the Blue Angels were performing overhead again while we were crabbing.
San Francisco was totally congested, again, and we were nearly overrun, again, with out-of-towners bewildered by the fact we were catching dinner from over the edge of the sidewalk in San Francisco bay.
To a degree I enjoy watching the planes during fleet week, especially the P-51 Mustang they busted out this year that performed a duet with an F-16, but for the most part being an S.F. resident it's kind of a drag with all the noise through the week and log-jams during the weekend.

A tough weekend. The brother of a friend of mine passed away on Friday night, apparently of heart troubles. He was a good man and only forty-one. I tipped a beer with him last weekend at a party.

It just goes to show the transitory nature of existence.

The husband of a long time AOL board friend (five+ years), the woman who custom designed Beorn's bar mitzvah invitations for me for his bar mitzvah gift, passed on Saturday. They had just returned from celebrating his 60th birthday, which would have been this coming Saturday, with family and friends. She says they returned home, he settled into his recliner to watch some college football (thinking it may have been the LSU/UF game), and started gasping. She called 911, but she says he was gone within five minutes of the onset.

Those of us on the board who have known her are doing our best to uplift her through her life adjustments. Changes...

Condolences, Damelon, and to your friend, Menolly.

Pretty normal weekend for me. Czech class on Saturday -- and for the second week in a row, I was the only person who showed up (other than the teacher). We only have three people in the class this semester anyhow.... The upside is that when nobody else shows, I get private lessons!

Saturday night, I got a call from MagickMaker: "Guess where I am?"

(Judging from the noise behind her, I'm thinking maybe a bar...) "No idea, where are you?"

"I'm in the kitchen on (Batty's) hall, and (Batty) is getting her head shaved!"

She's been threatening to do this for awhile. A bunch of them are going to an anime convention in Virginia Beach in early November, and they're going to dress up as various Harry Potter characters, and Batty is going to be Voldemort. Hence....

Ah well, it'll grow back. Eventually. And as somebody observed, if this is the worst thing she does in 4 years of college, I should consider myself lucky.

(Just talked to MagickMaker a little while ago, and she said, "Did I tell you I was thinking about getting a tattoo?" And I said, "Wouldja please let me get over your sister shaving her head first?" )

Condolence on those losses from me as well.

Aliantha, it's only hair, it's not like she's piercing her lower lip or some other facial feature. 8O Make sure Magicmaker gets her tatoo somewhere that it can easily be covered by choice. 8O

Haha, even piercings can be removed / grow out / whatever. :D (I shaved my head after growing my hair for 10 years.) (And actually, when I met the GF, she'd shaved her head not long before.)

Tatoos are a little more permanent. But as far as I'm concerned, there's only one criteria: Choose carefully. (Oh, and never pick some flash off the wall. Design it yourself, or get somebody you know who can draw to design it for you.)
