All the career ads were what really got to me. "Go to school for 8 months and become a medical assistant" or something like that. I tell ya, those were the hopeful ones, and they depressed me. Think how the rest would be.

And yes, Jenn....I watched those as well. That was the worst because I had to watch until the end to see how they all turned out. While I was sitting there feeling guilty for not getting any job hunting done. Last time I was laid off, I made myself swear to turn on videogames instead of watch shows like that. I became employed a lot faster. But I think I was more hirable and the job market was better.

Well I wanted to touch, but I don't allow fingerprints on my screen!

I should be sad, but it hasn't set in yet. We left Hayden for good with his great aunt and uncle yesterday. We gave him a great home for 3 months and I think he's in good hands. Sad that it had to happen on Tam's birthday...I put ol' Miss Elora in daycare today to keep her mind off her best-bud's dissapearance... :(

Ha, my biggest problem will be getting to like not working, and being reluctant to find a new job. Luckily for me, my sense of self-worth has nothing at all to do with having a job. The only reason I work is for money. :D

Hah. Over here that doesn't apply just to the afternoons. Seriously, check out our TV schedules - and weep for us:

Oh Cag...

I miss those commercials.

What has happened to our society that such reminders on television to care for our environment are not a daily part of our lives anymore?

Anyway...today I am feeling left out. Beorn is finished with The Gap cycle, and Hyperception is halfway through A Dark and Hungry G-d Arises. Hyperception has seriously confirmed that this is not a series for me.

However, apparently some form of male bonding is occuring between Beorn and Hyperception over the series. I'm not resentful of that (or at least, I don't think I am), but when one says something to the other that totally flies over my head, I am feeling left out.

It's a pity that you would not be able to read the Gap series. I seriously believe it is better than the Covenant series (thus far), but more in the head department than the heart, where I think the Covenant books are superior. There's not many likable characters in it, and so you find yourself rooting for complete jerks. I'm not talking about Covenant-type jerks; I mean real lowlifes. But yeah, if you can't take overt brutality and the horrors of mankind, then it might not be for you. But if you can find a little sympathy for the devil, so to speak, it is a very well constructed read. And the last book was the first time I ever was sitting on the edge of my seat reading.

Oh, and yeah...the PSA's of today are not nearly as good as they had been in the past. I mourn the loss of the hippy PSA. Now it is all about not smoking and staying away from drugs.
