yea, yea, i get it...he's growing up. lol! i've had a couple of friends of mine whose daughters went to college this fall, and these are women that i have known for, gosh, 10 years or so...never saw them cry ever. but they took that transition pretty hard. and i know i will.

i do feel better tonight than i did this morning. i guess i just had to get it out of my system. whew!

Hyperception is aware of the social struggles Beorn faces with his disorder, so he takes pride in every sign of maturity, whether one that Beorn shows, or one that society recognizes. Of course, Beorn's bar mitzvah at 13 gave Hypcerception the perfect stage to show his pride in his son, so when Beorn turned 14 it was a little muted by the event of him entering high school. But I suspect next year turning 15, and going for his restricted drivers license will be greeted with huge fanfare on Hyperception's part. :roll:

Of course, a lot of that probably has to do with them both being "onlies" as well...

I feel pretty good :biggrin: . I received my second raise in a few months, and it will be showing up on the paycheck I receive tomorrow. The first raise meant it was the first time in my thirty three years where my pay surpassed my bills enough that I dind't have to worry about making the numbers add up each month. The second raise means all sorts of other things, but mostly that I actually have discretionary income now. It's a nice place to be. I'm not rich by any means, but now I can loosen my belt just a little.

Congrats, Tjol!

Ki and Menolly, you guys will have to let me know what it feels like to have a kid driving. Neither of my kids has a license yet -- despite my repeated prodding. At college, they have friends with cars; at home, at least 'til we moved to the hinterlands last summer, bus service and Mom's Taxi sufficed. I know, it's still weird (and no, there are no pods in the basement -- I checked).

Doing okay today. Hoping they let us out early but not holding my breath.

Do the girls have plans for getting a license, Aliantha?

Things are going well. I'm a little sleepy after lunch. I think I'll take a walk around. I had an Italian Beef sandwich. I'll have enough poultry over the next few days. :)

We'll be getting out a little early today, maybe 3:00, though I'm hoping for 2:30. ;)

I am tired of my stupid insomnia! So I'm grumpy and grumpy and GRUMPY at the moment!!! :evil:

On a positive note: it rained all day yesterday (and we need rain so that's good), and I'm off camping tomorrow for a-couple-a-days and I'm looking forward to that. Yay!

I've got just one attorney in the office today, and he said I could leave. But apparently the firm isn't closing early...and it would be just my luck that somebody from Secretarial would walk past and see that I'm gone and dock my pay. :( So I'm gonna sit here for a few more minutes, just to make it look good....

Damelon, that's the weird thing: Neither one seems to have any interest in getting a license. Batty actually had a learner's permit and got behind the wheel a couple of times, but the darn thing expired before we finished the process and now she's not inclined to get another permit. MagickMaker always claimed to have too much going on to study for her permit (in fairness, the kid *was* pretty busy in high school), so she never even got that far. I expect their attitudes will change if/when they live somewhere with crappy public transit and no amenable friends with cars -- and at that point, I guess they can go to driving school on their own dime. It *is* weird, tho. I couldn't wait to drive, when I was their age, if only so that I wouldn't have to be seen with my mom driving me everywhere. Wait! That's it! I haven't properly embarrassed them! Boy, I really *have* failed as a mom.... ;)

Get out there and SHAME those kids Aliantha! :S I couldn't wait to get my driver's license either, I was practically camping out in front of DMV on the eve of! :P

I didn't start taking driving lessons until it was ridiculously impractical not to - by which time I was 21. I just didn't like the thought of having to control a huge chunk of dangerous machinery.

Hyperception grew up in the Bronx and Manahattan. When we met, when he was 19 to my 27, he didn't know how to drive. He never needed to learn how to drive there. Fortunately, at the time I was a State of Florida Drivers License Examiner.

That boy passed his written and driving test with nearly a perfect score. If he hadn't I would've had his head, after the lessons I gave him...
