The idea of alternative, or parallel universes has been around for quite a while and has provided considerable inspiration for Sci-Fi literature and sparked endless philosophical debate, but although being seriously considered within the scientific realm it never crossed the limits of speculative or purely theoretical grounds. Perhaps until now. If Mersini-Houghton is right, Eridanus’ giant hole would be the first experimental evidence for the existence of another universe. The implications of this possibility are obviously of huge importance for everybody, but it also has further relevance for the astrophysics community as it would bring support for the hotly debated string theory and other central debates.

You're arguing for discrete particles interacting with another dimension? The last time I checked, the Double-Slit Experiment showed how particles have a wave form. I'll have to dig up my books on the subject, but I was fairly sure Brian Greene, or whatever his name is, said in 'The Elegant Universe' that the double-slit experiment was evidence of Parallel Universes, due to the fact that since the particles weren't interfering with themselves, they had to be being interfered with by other particles being fired by other experimentors preform the same experiment in a parallel universe.Loremaster wrote:You're arguing for discrete particles interacting with another dimension? I have the Elegant Universe. One thing I have to say about Mr Greene. He's a String Theorist. Therefore any claim/theory he makes is open to doubt; there's no experiment to support his claims. Regarding his claim, the particles are interfere with themselves; that's the basis for the experiment, as their wave forms interfere over time. See Tonomura's experiment for strong support that they have be interfered with from other particles in the same experiment to produce the pattern.
