Most people need both to get anywhere in life. Sure, some spend their whole life sheltered in academia and are quite successful at it, and some are charismatic and savvy enough to do well for themselves without any kind of formal education. Most of us exist somewhere in between.

But for someone like myself who grew up poor (aka, on "the streets") and made something of himself, it gets really damn old when people say, "Sure, you're book smart, but you're not street smart." I mean, when I saw other people in my classes fail or barely pass a test, do I walk by and say, "Too bad you're not book smart,"? No, that'd make me an a-hole. But the same people, most of whom don't even know me, have no problems asking me what my test score was and then giving me their wisdom on street smarts when they find out I aced it. Whatever makes people feel better, I guess.

But yeah, in a year's time, you'd be hard pressed to get someone to learn which box or number comes next with any significantly higher degree of accuracy (after puberty, IQ scores are pretty much static). But in a year's time, you can teach almost anyone how to either score or stay off smack or whatever "street" challenge you want to set up.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I still don't understand how this represents even potential intelligence.

But it says I'm smart so I'll accept it with a smile.

OMG My logical and evidential mind requires me to post evidence before I can rub it in people's faces. But when I tried to upload it to imageshack the first time my 145 BROKE THE SYSTEM.

145, which is pretty much right in line for me. I scored 143 on the Mensa test when I was 17 years old, hadn't slept the night before, and had a gorgeous blonde sitting next to me taking the test. On the other hand, in near-ideal conditions on another test, I scored 151.

Does it mean anything? Meh.

I hate IQ tests. They are the most misleading things on the earth.

It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

I don't like this game. I quit with about 10 minutes to go, because I didn't want to drive myself crazy for another 10 minutes.

It means gorgeous blondes are distracting.
