The previews look great, although Smith has become like Cruise....
Just like Cruise always has to stare into the horizon looking pensive, Smith has to spend a few minutes of screentime lifting weights.

Definitely worth it.
They did a great job of deviating from the book enough to make an excellent adaptation, instead of failing at trying to make it a perfect copy. An awsome movie.

Good, but I thought it went downhill a bit towards the end.

disappointed. too many bogus plot clues (personally), and seemed somewhat disjointed. mom and me both: "that's it?" 
Yes, I thought it was a good action flick, not great, and it is missing something...still can't put a finger on it. At the end you come out...ok, is that it? Nothing much to discuss over dinner except to comment about the good empty city FX and his dog buddy. Could have had more
One point I thought they might have covered more that would have been interesting, but the film was too shy or embarassed or to un-PC to go to indepth was Maybe they were afraid of copying the idea of King's "The Stand".

I thought it was great, far better than the Heston version (which is saying something, 'cause I really like the Heston version). I agree that there was something missing, but I don't know what. I thought Smith did a marvelous job, especially conveying the edge of madness from being alone for three years.

The Omega man scared the crap out of me when I was about 7 years old, first and last movie to ever really give me nightmares.
I liked I am Legend for the way that they shot the city scenes and the dog as a main character, I also thought that Will Smith did a good job and played it pretty dry, not too much clowning around. one of the things that I didn't like was the cgi zombies, they just seemed too much like cartoon monsters, too strong, not human enough and they all looked exactly the same ..using real people for zombies is so much more effective. part of what made the zombies in the Omega Man so disturbing was that they still had a bit of humanity left. also I thought that they could have said a lot more with a story about humanity being on the brink of extinction.
all in all though I would say that it's worth going to see on the big screen.
