I started The Chronicles out of boredom and I am so grateful that I did. I read all three within weeks. And I wrote a piece called “The Theme of the Anti-Hero”. My dedication and love was rewarded with a B. And I have Mr Donaldson to thank for that.
You lucky bastard. The only thing I received for reading the Chronicles in school was a reprimand.
It took some time before I read the Second Chronicles. I admit that I struggled so hard with them. The Land was not what I had remembered or desired it to be.
I have read the first Chronicles many times, like my Father and brother before me; I attempt to do so at least once a year. But the Second Chronicles I have only read a maximum of twice.
I hope you'll come to like the 2nd Chrons more. One reason (among many) why I love the 2nd trilogy is
because it is so different from the 1st.
Fatal Revenant is the best Mr Donaldson has ever written and I am truly anxious to reach the conclusion.
I'm very pleased to hear such a positive opinion of FR. I have heard through the grapevine that there is a lot of negativity in the FR Forum, so I feel I should warn you, in case you decide to risk entering the fray there.
PS Started “Mordants Need” this year and put it down. Couldn’t get in to it all, but I’ll get there.
Mordant's Need is a severely under-appreciated work by SRD. I'm glad you've at least made the attempt to read it.
