Re: New Arrival in this Land

You lucky bastard. The only thing I received for reading the Chronicles in school was a reprimand.
It took some time before I read the Second Chronicles. I admit that I struggled so hard with them. The Land was not what I had remembered or desired it to be.

I have read the first Chronicles many times, like my Father and brother before me; I attempt to do so at least once a year. But the Second Chronicles I have only read a maximum of twice.
I hope you'll come to like the 2nd Chrons more. One reason (among many) why I love the 2nd trilogy is because it is so different from the 1st.
Fatal Revenant is the best Mr Donaldson has ever written and I am truly anxious to reach the conclusion.
I'm very pleased to hear such a positive opinion of FR. I have heard through the grapevine that there is a lot of negativity in the FR Forum, so I feel I should warn you, in case you decide to risk entering the fray there.
PS Started “Mordants Need” this year and put it down. Couldn’t get in to it all, but I’ll get there.
Mordant's Need is a severely under-appreciated work by SRD. I'm glad you've at least made the attempt to read it.

Hello,

Another new forum member here. I'm a longtime Donaldson fan, just finished with FR. Looking forward to joining the discussion.

Nice to meet you too. Your avatar is just too damn funny!

Minor FR spoiler follows:
Spoiler
Maybe Linden can go back in time and teach
the Bloodguard to settle their differences with roshambo instead...
Might have prevented that ugly first contact with the Insequent.

First, welcome to the Watch, mirkfruit.

Second...not to be a jerk, but some of us might regard your post as FR spoiler material. Don't worry, I've read the book, but out of consideration for those who haven't yet, I think it might be better to hide your post under spoiler tags. Or perhaps re-phrase your post. However, it is only a recommendation - I'm not the Mod of this forum. But I would still politely ask it of you. Thanks.

Spoiler
Uh,
Do you think that my avatar is a spoiler MM?
I mean the humbled originate in the Final Chronicles, in name...
Perhaps I should tone it down?

Nah, I'm concerned about things from FR. The Humbled were already introduced in Runes.

Although it might be advisable anyway. Wouldn't want to accidentally stumble into the Pit of Despair Jay accidentally installed.

My brother was a tad upset by the death of Mr Foamfollower. As we all were I bet.

I will keep trying Mordants Need and I am sure I will finish them one day. But the Gap and TCOTC are by far and away the best books I have ever read in my life.

My dad and bro have read them, I passed them on to my friends who've read and loved them, and now my current girlfriend is bristling with anticipation at the thought of getting to read The Gap series.

She infact finished FR before I got a chance to pick it up...I was only slightly miffed, but hey you gotta share Tommy C!

Damn seems like everyone's got one nowadays. I need to add that to my "To Get" list. Right under "cell phone."

HAHA! Wow, MM. Seriously? That sucks. I got my first copy of LFB from one of my teachers.

Fair enough, no offense taken, and I appreciate the advice. Thanks for not turning me over to Castellan Lebbick.
