TV commercials

Post by taraswizard »

The AFLAC duck is the favorite of my mom and dad in California. And the robot gecko is much cuter than than any dancing baby!

I liked particularly the Target commercials that had a tone of surreality to them. Can not remember particulars, and these preceded Target dog, who I like too.

The coffee comercial with the whistling guy and Diane Taurasi, a WNBA basketball player, I find particualrly odious and inane. Same brand of coffee, two different commercials.

I love the Yogi Berra/ Yao Ming credit card commercial: "Name please?" "Yao" "Yo?" ...on and on...

My all time fav, for some reason, is the Hall's "You promised to take us skiing...you're bumming us out Dad" ad. "BREATHE MY PASTY FRIEND BREATHE!" (finishes at the top of a mountian with a sign saying "Deadman's Drop") "Feeling better Dad?" <looks at sign> "...well, I was..."

I liked the WAZ UP! Commercial, and then the follow up, "What are YOU doing" one. I about peed my pants every time.

I hate that commercial with the tires where they have the crying baby. It breaks my heart. It's mean to scare a baby for the sake of a commercial!

I wouldn't buy those tires (Michelan, I think) no matter what because of that commercial!

I saw a commercial yesterday at the theatre for Adidas. Some new "intelligent" shoe. Not sure if it's on TV (probably), but it was pretty cool. Very tripped out. It was this whole dream scape kind of thing.
"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I miss the "Milch? Eurgh!"/"Achrington Stanley? Oo ah they?" milk advert, with those hideously-accented kids.

Stone, that is an awesome ad.
I admit, much of the history it depicts flies past me, but I believe I picked up on a lot of what is represented.

I do have to ask though, since it was filmed in Liverpool...
Is there reference anywhere to the Beatles?
If so, I missed it.

Filmed in Liverpool, but only because the location and architecture fit, I think. It's supposed to be anywhere in England.

So no reference to the Beatles, just the swinging sixties minis and England winning the football World Cup in 1966. The Beatles would have fit in though!

Speaking of Beatles and ..ahem...commercials, have you lot over there seen the ad for the Beatles x-box game?

Didn't the news story open saying a "mistake was rectified" by this new commercial being filmed in Liverpool? For some reason, I thought Liverpool was being specifically portrayed. ah well, I probably misinterpreted again.

I have heard that a Rockband: The Beatles game is being released, I think for various platforms, but since I have been without t.v. since the digital conversion here in the states, I haven't seen any recent commercials. Is the one you're thinking of uploaded anywhere?
