It's Moose's birthday so I am gonna celebrate that. With a tiny doggie cake and probably a steak so he can have the bone.

Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Ah yes, Black Thursday. Ugh.
I celebrate by doing stuff for the girls. This year, I picked up a decorate-your-own-Valentines kit from the dollar bin at Target, and decorated the hell out of 'em -- stickers, sequins, bows, fake gems, etc., etc. I was going to send them, but MagickMaker is coming up to attend an anime convention in DC that weekend, so I'll just hold onto 'em and let her take them back with her. At least I'll get to see *her* face when she opens the card.
Dunno what I'll do for me. Probably nothing. I agree that it's a hyped-up non-holiday (oh, and MsMary, don't forget it was a Roman holiday before the Christians got hold of it!), but it still sucks to be single on the day.

That's the funniest thing I've read today! Thanks for the laugh, Fist!Fist and Faith wrote:I'll celebrate anything that might lead to sex.

In that case, maybe we should celebrate it.aliantha wrote:oh, and MsMary, don't forget it was a Roman holiday before the Christians got hold of it!)

Re: What does Valentines Day, mean for you?
Being a sentimental romantic at heart I love the idea of Valentines day but usually don't get to make a big thing about is as my partner tends to consider it just a Hallmark Holiday.thefirst wrote:Will you be going out to dinner with you sweetheart, wearing scandalous lingerie, pretending it's not happening, or for our oh so practical fellows, giving your wife something she'll really love, like a tool set?
Thankfully I don't need a set day to send him things and make him feel special and visa versa.
This year we won't be together on the day but have a 5 day holiday planned on the 21st so lazy mornings in bed, a nice meal or two out and sexy lingerie will be some of the activities planned.

Valentine's Day does not lead to sex.
Valentine's Day leads to hugs and puppies, and is therefore evil.
Actually, Valentine's Day leads to a loss of money, which occasionally leads to sex.
I have a remarkably neat proof of this:
Seriously, though. I hate Saint Valentine's day. Not only because it is a Christian Holiday, but because it's a Christian Holiday celebrating a Saint who was Martyred by the Romans for VIOLATING ROMAN LAW.
And not the law against being a Christian.
Seriously. Was Lupercalia not good enough?

The particular part of the proof you would wish to concern yourself with in re: loss of money is the 'Women = Money^2' part.Women = Time * Money
Time = Money
Women = Money^2
Money = Root of All Evil
Women = (Root of All Evil)^2
Women = All Evil

We will not be celebrating on the day itself, as we are both working, and opposite shifts at that.
But the day after we'll be having an early dinner at a really nice Indian restaurant in Ann Arbor called the Raja Rani, following that up with watching a performance of Shakespeare's As You Like It, and then either heading to the hot tub gardens for some nekkid soaking in a garden built for two or heading to a jazz club to listen to some white hot tunes.
As for what will happen after those activities, well Fist would approve.

I'll try that next time, thanks. The carpet samples are getting pretty worn, so I was thinking of replacing them, but hand lotion might be a bit cheaper.Emotional Leper wrote:I find using hand lotion instead of carpet samples helps that, Cag.Cagliostro wrote:Let's just sum it up with two simple words:

I still can't believe what a crock restaurants are in charging a heap extra on Valenstein's Day. I prefer to cook something nice, like some kind of Indian dish or some manicotti with walnuts and pesto, and picking up some wine. And most of the time, it works out that it tastes better than most restaurants anyway.
