Blackadder: I know from long experience all my men have the artistic talent of a cluster of colour-blind hedgehogs in a bag.

Later - I was wondering, sir, if you have ever heard of the Colour Blind Hedgehog Artist Society from Vienna?

George: Well tally ho! With a bing and a bong and a buzz buzz buzz!

Flashheart: If word gets out that I'm missing, 500 girls will kill themselves and I wouldn't want them on my conscience - not when they ought to be on my face!

Blackadder (to Baldrick): If you were to serve up one of your meals in Staff HQ, you would be arrested for the greatest mass poisoning since Lucretia Borgia invited 500 of her close friends round for a wine and anthrax party.

Great minds think alike

Post by Skyeclad »

Just when I hear there might be a covenant movie I started to think that Hugh Laurie would be perfect given his rendition of Dr. House. Then I find out that many of you think the same! How wierd is that.

To my mind this character's mix of self-loathing, depression and anger is a lot like Covenant and Hugh physically looks like I imagined Covenant. Even the character's missing thigh muscle reminds me of leprosy and Covenant's missing fingers.

Maybe Dr. House is the reincarnation of the Land's second greatest hero?

Honestly though, it seems that Hollywood goes for the young actors to play characters that should be played by older actors to pull in the younger demographic. With our luck it will be played by Ashton Kutcher or Freddy Prinze Jr.

I think we are putting too much into looks. A good actor can be made to "look" like just about anyone. The performance is what matters, and where the true magic lies.

Chris Bale doesn't have the talent, and his lisp bothers me. :)

I must be one of the few americans that has watched black adder... It certainly seems that americans believe lourie would be good, but I having seen blackadder, my favorite christmas show being black adders christmas carol, cannot see lourie in a different light.. even in house I keep expecting him to say something stupid.

Kudos to you who suggested the guy from Fantasy Bedtime Hour for TC. Yes, SRD has also endorsed Steve as a potential. Personally I think he would do a great job because although he comes across as overacting, remember it's a parody, Steve actually has brilliant acting skills. He would be great in the serious roles too. Now for a bit of FBH trivia whether you like it or not.... when first meeting SRD, his initial reaction to my introduction of Steve as TC was (and yes this is a verbatim quote) "Well, you are much better looking than I pictured Thomas Covenant to be"
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

He's 48.

Harrison Ford is playing Indiana Jones in his 60s. In movie land male leads routinely play character 20 years younger than they actually are. Hugh could be mid 30s with no sweat. And TC isn't really a babyfaced mid-30s in 1st Chrons. ;)

Hugh has my vote

I can ONLY imagine Hugh Laurie for the part. I'm sure it's all ready been stated, but where can you truly find a guy you loathe, but can identify with, and at the same time is likable. I can't think of anyone else who could portray the characteristics as Donaldson wrote them.

I have never seen the show, so I don't know about his mannerisms, but googling his face, I can see where he could play Covenant.

I still think it should be a completely new face so that we have no preconceived notions about the actor himself.

Your Avatar reminds me of the Cave that TC sat in while winhome gay offered him food at manhome during LFB. is it something you made?
