Nonsense, Mel is a veggie (quite unusual in SA I assure you) and there's nothing wrong with her.
Still, at least you realise it's something you want to believe huh?
(Sorry.)
I don't think I got any regrets myself...I think it's important not to. Some things maybe I'd do different, but on the whole, I'm pretty fine with life.
Maybe I wouldn't be so lazy. Or such a procrastinator.

I was initiated into the Surat Shabd Yoga/Sant Mat by Darshan Singh in 1981, when I was 21, and followed that path for several years. The adherance to the vegetarian diet even includes the avoidance of cheese with animal rennet.
When I chose to forsake that path (mostly), my metabolism has been screwed ever since.

<ali gingerly sidesteps the discussion between Av and Menolly>
Hmm. I agree with Av, I think. There are things I might have done differently, but on the whole, I did what I thought was right at the time.

As I said, it's fine for others. My metabolism slowed down so much that when I reintroduced a regular diet it never bounced back. Even when I was intensely training for the Floriday Sunshine State Games (where I took a "silver" in Bo, btw), and for Juniour Olympics six days a week, the metabolism never sped back up.Avatar wrote:Nonsense, Mel is a veggie (quite unusual in SA I assure you) and there's nothing wrong with her.Still, at least you realise it's something you want to believe huh?

No, I would have been better off never having followed such a diet. But, again, that's me.Avatar wrote:So, you mean you would not stop being a vegetarian.
I do still think eating meatless several times a week is healthy. We don't need meat all the time, that's for sure.
...and ali, I bow to your wisdom.

Zackly. Plus it's just a bad idea to second-guess yourself -- that's a surefire prescription for self-loathing, endless self-recriminations, etc.Avatar wrote:Ayuh. And what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

(Of course, in a couple of months, I may be back here in this thread and saying to myself, "Boy, was *that* ever a dumb thing to post!"

Hmm, well, not sure I'd go *that* far...Avatar wrote:Damn straight. Done is done and that's that. If you can't live with your decisions and their consequences, might as well kill yourself.

In terms of non-life-changing decisions, tho...I probably would have stuck with the first Toyota Corolla I owned for another year. Buying the next car when I did helped wreck the budget. And then it started needing big money repairs before I'd finished paying off the loan.

What in the world is Bo? Tae Bo?Mel-cho wrote:where I took a "silver" in Bo, btw),

My one regret is that I didn't knock Jeb Boyd's head off in HS. But according to Eckart Tolle, since I am a nonviolent person, what my ego has been doing is carrying a negative and destructive grievance, this is baggage I must rid myself of in order to awake and be the concious "I am", pure Being. So, in other words, no.

fall far and well Pilots!

No. The bō is the wooden staff used in karate-do.danlo wrote:What in the world is Bo? Tae Bo?Mel-cho wrote:where I took a "silver" in Bo, btw),
According to the article, Donatello of the TMNTs uses a bō as his weapon of choice.
Mine is rosewood, about 2" diameter, and 6' tall. My "silver" medal (it's actually pewter) was for kata with my bō, not kumite.
*snort*
I just noticed...Mel-cho??
*giggling*

In martial arts, my weapon of choice was always the bo-staff.
(You can do soooo much with one)
But if I had it all to do again I would had stayed with my Kung-Fu training.
(I got old and lazy and stopped after about 15 years of studying Wing Chung, Wooden and Drunken Monkey, and "shoot" fighting.)

On the whole, I don't regret much of anything that I've done so far in my life. I think that even the bad experiences that I've had, have served their purpose, and if nothing else, have helped me to be the person I am. I'm comfortable with myself and I think that the past and the way I've dealt with things, only helps me to meet the things that will happen in the future with a better outlook. Am I rambling? Oh well.

Has anyone seen my keys?
