The week has vast improved...sorta have the car situation worked out. Got to do a rotation in the OB yesterday and helped out with the delivery of a baby (mostly just ran back and forth for washcloths and took vitals)...so cool, the mom was in labor for about 10 hours total...i have a new appreciation for the female pain tolerance, holy hell.

10 hours is about normal. My sister-in-law was in labor for 24 hours. Sober. The epidural had a kink in the line and they didn't find it out until AFTER she delivered.

Happy Birthday, Av!

I drove down to pick up a new laptop for work from the IT guy yesterday. My old one up and died on Monday morning. Today, I'm figuring the new one out and trying to catch up from the three days of work that I that I couldn't get at without a laptop. Fun.

I would, buy I live with my grandfather. He fought twice in Vietnam. No, wait, three times. He really doesn't like hippies.

Speaking of mind-trips, I sent you a revised copy of my 8th short story. Read it and weep.

Oh awesome, thanks for the heads up. I'll check my mail right now. :D I hope Joy is bugging you about publishing that stuff...

Anyway, smoke it somewhere else, get a lift home, and go to bed. :D

(Actually, seriously, once was a time when I used to consider myself lucky to get 4 hours a night. My personal best is 96 hours with 0 hours sleep, and things started looking a bit weird. Once I started to spliff regularly, my insomnia went away. Now it only recurs if I don't.)

I feel buoyant. My family paid for the repairs to my car, which means I didn't have to spend the proceeds from the sale of my old car, which in turn means I'm halfway to buying my ticket to San Francisco.

Also, today I received, for want of a less pretentious term, 'inspiration'. It's been a while.

You and SRD...
And me. I'm still convinced of my solipsism, though I'll allow Avatar and SRD an independent existence, once I overwhelm the universe.

My record: 5 days of sleeplessness, though it didn't bother me much, as anorexia had already made me comfortably numb. And in 1998, in June, I only got one hour of sleep each night. That was fun, though, cause I was addicted to the Internet and watching movies and being a kid.

This current bout of insomnia's been abrupt: slept fine until late February of this year. I blame the stress of my senior thesis and other college stuff. But now most of that stuff is over, and yet the habit of staying awake remains. Bah. At least I have extra reading time.

My cat has settled herself in my closet, I think she's in labor, so I'm excited.
Has anyone seen my keys?

Ooh. . . kittens! I love kittens! Please post pictures when they arrive, okay?

Speaking of kittens. . . my roommate is giving her cat away tomorrow. The cat Muffin will stay with a friend until Elizabeth returns from China in July 2009. I think I'm going to miss the haughty princess (the cat). I'll miss my roommate too, but she doesn't leave for a few weeks yet.

Will do, no surprise with cats that I have no idea what the father looks like, but hey, kittens are always cute. :)

Cool. I second the request for pics of possible.

(Over the summer I fostered five kittens that were born in my garden shed, and they were such sweet little blobs. Kind of ugly... but very sweet. Still have two.)
