What I love about my job

Some of us, myself included, complain about our jobs every now and then (or maybe a little more frequently than that ). And that's pretty reasonable. I mean, they're our jobs, so they involve a certain ammount of frustration, probably on a regular basis. Most times we can't complain to other people who are at our jobs, for various reasons (fear of ticking off someone who can fire you, for example...). But I thought it would be interesting to see what good things we can say about our jobs, too. So.....


I love my partners. The four colleagues that share the same job responsibilities that I do. They are all very intelligent, more than competent, and all very willing to compromise schedules and share responsibilities when needed. Not only that, but they're all genuinely nice people, whom I'm proud to call friends. Without having them here, this would be a far different work experience. I am very lucky to have them.


So, anyone else?

I love bagel day, which happens almost every Friday. With the test kitchen here, that makes me happy too.

I have no job at the moment. Which I love. When I did have a job, I only loved getting my paycheck, and having unlimited time on the Watch, 10 hours a day, 5 days a week. Other than that, well, I hate all forms of work.

Not sure if this is a job, since it is on a volunteer basis, but seeing a parent finally come through the grieving and acceptance process of an autism diagnosis for their child as a parent advocate for CARD is one of the things I love most. Also, seeing how effective an IEP I helped someone put together for their child when it does what it is supposed to do is a high as well...

I have never had a real job. Right now, I'm a substitute student worker at my church, which means once every few months I sit at a desk for four hours watching television and praying that the phone will ring so I can actually do something. I like not having a job because it gives me time to do what is really important. If I had a job, I would like having something productive to do (I think).

I love that every day is different. I get bored easily so working on everything from low expansion composites to Etch A Sketch glass during a single day keeps my interest level up. I once worked in a lab where I did the same thing everyday - I would have had to end it all if I didn't get away from that hum drum craphole.

The only thing I like about my job is that the guys I work with are very funny, and the banter that flies about the hall can get very personal, but always good for a laugh.

Other than that, it sucks

Still adjusting to working in what is basically a little shack in the woods after working in downtown SF for 10+ years.

Right now I am looking out at the parking lot, which is full of deer. Wish I had my camera with me.

I love the personal satisfaction of knowing that I have taken my location from next to last in a company with 30 locations to #3 in the whole company. Now if they would just pay me more.............

I love being a Psychologist, but as for the environment I work in - that is the prison and some of my coworkers - well, the job isn't so great.

However, the pay is fabulous.

Right now, I love deilvering around the UNiverstiy campus on my route...mostly because of all the barly clothed college girls strutting around...no wait...that's the ONLY reason I like it.

I get to help sick patients feel better. What could be grander than that? I have a small but great group of MDs that I work with, and I enjoy an exceptional level of collegiality with them.

I love my job most of the time.

I get to work with new moms and cute little babies.
I have great co-workers in my office. The rest of the staff is pleasant and friendly. The management is reasonable and approachable. The only thing that sucks about it is the pay.

I love being able to provide a service for people who are unable to get out and about for themselves. The genuine appreciation we get is moving at times. Plus I get to meet some really interesting people and never know what each day will hold.

I also really enjoy the one work place and the colleagues I work with - the people really do make the place and help the work day go by with laughter, fun and education (at time).
