Hmm, I've never come across that before. Interesting. If the French angle doesn't work, you could always plead Welshness and claim it's spelled 'ddanc' (which would be pronounced your way).

[/gratuitous Welsh references]
Hmm... I have always liked Welsh, even though I don't know much of it.
Is it really "ddanc" in Welsh, or is that a joke?
No, I just assembled a word using Welsh conventions, that would be pronounced the way you pronounce 'thank' (the double D denotes a soft 'th', and Welsh uses a hard C).

If you want to actually thank someone in Welsh, it's 'diolch'.

I figured as much. So how do I pronounce diolch?

Agh. Hope everything's all right, menolly.

I'm great, except I had quite a spat with my mom recently. As fate would have it, Mother's Day is tomorrow and neither she nor me has tried to patch it over. She's a bit sensitive, too, so I suppose it'll have to be me.

Pretty much as it's spelled. 'Dee-olck', but with a German-like throatiness on the CH. And the I is under-emphasised, so maybe it's more like 'dyolck'. Hmm.

I bought an expensive wool and cashmere overcoat today. It has a fabulous cut. I plan to use it to wear out over my suits going out at night on the town on the weekends.

*seething*

If what I am beginning to understand of the situation with my Uncle is correct, I am starting to seethe about his decisions regarding informing his wife and sons of his condition.

Then again, in this day and age, how anyone can not know being admitted to a Hospice facility means end of life care is beyond me...

...it's not my place...it's not my place...it's not my place...

Damn, I hear that. Looks like I'm on the verge of becoming the de facto guardian of a 17-yr old girl for the next 7-10 months. :?

Things been a bit crazy out here in Africa, send the good vibes, gods know I need them, and I'll be on when possible. :D Keep the home fires burning. ;)

|G
Hugs to all that need or want them.

I'm feeling good today. Must be the caffeine.

So, yeah, it's pronounced just like it looks, huh?  Auleliel, I think your friends are doinks. Honestly, laughing at somebody for their pronunciation! Whatever! :P

Yay, Magickmaker! |G (She sent me pictures of the works in progress -- they are quite good! Clearly her artistic ability comes from the other side of the family tree; I'm lucky to get the sides of a stick house parallel....)

|G also to danlo and his dad, to LF and his mom (hope it all worked out yesterday), to Lore and Av and their respective complications, to Menolly and her family, and to Auleliel and her, um, caffeine.

Good vibes to all who could use them......

Today, I'm ECSTATIC!!!!!

Mrs. Root and I found out that we are PREGNANT!!!!

(Never thought I'd feel the need to use a dancing banana, but there ya go.... :) )

It's fairly early on, and I know all the "rules" about not telling people too early and all, but neither of us can keep a secret worth a darn, so....

We're due in mid-January.

Our son is pretty excited, too. He's already convinced we're having a girl. He's also selecting songs of the radio that he thinks the baby would like.

Not much else to say, but...

And Jenn, Thomas or Linden? Heck, no. If I get my way, we'll be using Gossamer or Pitchwife! (Though I have a feeling that might not fly....)

How about Terisa or Geraden? You could always call him Gerry. :)
