A couple new theories.

Horace has become unstuck in time like Desmond and others. Was he really killed by the poison gas, or could he just not find his constant?

Claire is dead. She didn't survive her house being blown up and is in the same state as Christian Shepherd.

As I am frequently wrong about this show, don't put too much stock in these theories.

okay Cag,,try this...In a very recent interview damon and Carlton ( TPTB) basically said.." What is Dead?"...Damon pulled the same stunt back at end of season 2 with,,if the Island is really a island,,So once again,,these two are asking the viewer to go into the metaphor of it all.

Is Claire dead?...No...rememeber what she was doing when she saw Christian with Aaron.. she was sleeping...I suggest she is in the .." Dream World",,and the ditzy blonde,, is quite content.. The interesting is,,wtf is Christian,, who is Jacks Cross to Bear,,doing with Claire and now LOCKE??
The suggestion here of a unifying element amongst the LOSTIES is starting to gel,,and I mean a thicker " connectivity" than a mere being in a store at the same time..I mean..LOCKE is SEEING Jacks dead father.. or UNDEAD Father..

According to another interview,,with the same two TPTB,,there are three states of being so far on this " Island"...ALive...Dead,,, and Undead...At the time of the interview,,, Undead was like..Kates Horse.....Now it appears this free spirits existance is also inhabited by Christian with Claire along for the ride..This Undead realm may just be the Brain as it exits when in the dream state,, absolutely anything goes,, in its free state..Not under any of the existing laws of the Awake State of mind..

Back in the prev season (or was it earlier this season?) when Locke first went to Jacob's hut, there were all sorts of screen captures of the events inside and I swore at one point it looked like Christian setting in the rocking chair; now I see it was indeed the case, however back then it was Jacob to whom Ben was talking. Anyway, being that Christian is Clair's dad and Clair is Jack's step-sister, it's interesting the island picked those two people to represent itself to Locke. I don't see Clair as "ditsy", as you guys put; to me that's Ginger from Gilligan's Island. ;) It was also surprising to see Richard off island way back in the late 50's; I was under the impression that he was a long-lifer, but had never left the island until he met up with Ben. Goes to show there were Dharma (maybe even pre-Dharma) experiments going on pre-island.

Still, to me it seems like they are now going off on some very different story threads from some "supposedly" master story-line. It does seem like they often make it up as they go along. And I'm not sure I like the everyone-is-related-somehow-to-each other theme, like I thought it was stretching it when they showed Libby selling the sail boat to Desmond back in season 2. We are seeing more of those connections lately, like they are running out of actors to play the various parts they need.

YES!!..of all the Ironies in this episode..which seemed to begin at the moment of touch down on earth,, that line,,Jesus is not a weapon..was one of the best....Again..the conflicted state of these Oceanic 6 ..post Island,,,seems to be the same state of mind pre- island. ..Yet...

....there was a drop of some interesting info there between Sun and father that opens up a whole possibility of ,,,well,, the possibilty of Hope first introduced with the inclusion of Rich Alpert and the Lost Island Hostiles..a 3rd party now involved in this Good vs Evil struggle between Ben and Widmore. Their inclusion opens up the possibility that The Oceanic 6 LIE,, For the Hostiles,, FOR the Island... A higher , surreal evolution,,,is now possible , that is above the Black White,Good Evil conflict of Widmore/ Ben..Love has been given a back seat in this drive to the season 4 center..Its re-emergence seems possible....There is now a possibility that the Oceanic 6 ,,pooled some of their pay off monies,,and now own a controlling interest in Paik Industrys. Paik and Widmore connections have been hinted at, and just remain to be made clearer.

The whole idea of ownership of this " Island"...is wrong to begin with..The Imagination is not owned or controlled .

Remember...

NO LOST TONITE

If you sit down on the couch and turn on LOST, you'll see nothing but some Grey's Anatomy chick whining about a man. The shock of thinking you missed the season finale of LOST could be dangerous, especially if you have a heart condition, or hate Grey's Anatomy. Do not set your VCR. Repeat, do not set your VCR. Jay.

One of the many stupid things about Grey's Anatomy is it is nothing like the book.

LOST TONITE!

· first there is a rebroadcast of the previous ep, with added scenes
· then there is a two hour new episode

(So it really is a two hour finale this time.)

So ready. I just wish I wasn't sick. I'll probably Nyquil up when I get home from work, get a 4 hour nap in and then stay up until it is over and then go back to sleep and be ready for work tomorrow at 5am.

Stunning! My jaw dropped three times! Who in the heck is this Jeremy they kept refering to? Somebody from the Others, or somebody we haven't met in the future? :?

edit: just went to the ABC/Lost forum and some guy says that Jeremy

Jeremy Bentham (IPA: ['ben??m] or ['bent?m]) (15 February 1748–6 June 1832) was an English jurist, philosopher, and legal and social reformer. He was a political radical, and a leading theorist in Anglo-American philosophy of law. He is best known for his advocacy of utilitarianism, for the concept of animal rights,[1][2] and his opposition to the idea of natural rights, with his oft-quoted statement that the idea of such rights is "nonsense upon stilts."[3] He also influenced the development of welfarism

Why is Christian the voice of the Island? We're starting to see quite a "dynasty" develop: Jack's dad, Jack, Jack's sister, and Jack's nephew. What is it about this family? Why are they so important?

Are we starting to get reincarnation hints? The archaeologist girl (I'm horrible with names) said she was looking for where she was born, and Miles said she was trying to "get back." It's like she was on the island in another life. Also, Richard Alpert visited Locke as a child and asked him which object was his already. As if it were an ownership from a previous life.

Wasn't it creepy when Christian appeared on the freighter and told Michael, "you can go now"??? The island was finally letting him die.

Re reincarnation, it's really helpful to see the show on the "enhanced version": the little hints at the bottom. I always learn something new. Anyway, I found out that Richard's game with young Locke was based upon what was done with a young Buddha "candidate", asking the possible Buddha reincarnate which objects where his in the past life.

And it's odd that they called Locke "Jeremy" with ease, as if that's what he went by this whole time: they knew him longer as Locke than Jeremy, I'd imagine. All goes to show that somehow time was altered for the O-6, and these are possibily not the same losties we knew up to the time the Island moved, or somesuch, perhaps.

Very good intro to where the last season finale left us, that woke me up. And a very good cliffhanger, I think.

So now what, no new shows until 09?! Walt will have a beard by then.

I thought they were calling him Jeremy to hide his identity, the same reason they were lying to the press. But it is odd that they'd maintain this lie when no one else is around (Kate and Jack, for instance).

The season 4 finale was actually more of a beginning. I mean.. we already have seen the future. It is not very good, and now we know why,, or how it is so. Basically, these characters have it wrong from the start.

There is the old saying; You can change places or place the changes..when dealing with conflict. The option of changing places was exercised. As we already know, that hasn't resolved any of the conflict. Matter of fact,, Conflict was at the center of this finale. All the Conflict of this episode only spawned More conflict. So no real resolution was achieved. Even Keamy demonstrated that the final resolution that Death is,, can be beat. So, the Insanity was where?,,in the approach to resolving the conflicts in the manner that they did,,which continues in to the future,, only spawning more unresolved Conflict.

Perhaps its up To Sun..to resolve the Widmore portion of the insane Ben vs Widmore conflict...?

Poor Locke couldn't find an answer if it was tattooed on the inside of his eyelids. The freighter blew up because he couldn't even figure out all he had to do was slip his hand or wrist or arm underneath Keamy's heart monitor. Again, the basic flaw of Lockes Character demonstrated. Unable to find answers inside of himself.. always looking for answers outside of himself...The only answer Locke DID resolve was , who is in the coffin,, and he had to die to do that..The Irony is Surreal Dark Humor at its best.

Compared to season 3's finale, Hurley was a real turd in this finale..No Hero guy this time around. He acted like he didn't even hear Frank about the helicopter needing to lose a few hundred pounds..No hero there. And he wasn't even helping paddle the raft to Membatta...totally detached from whats goin on around him,, just as he was in the nut house when Sayid came to take him to a safer place.

And Jack, the ever adamant Jack and his Logic, that both Locke and Kate have strongly suggested he fools himself with..gets proven mistaken , misguided, not to be trusted, at just about every turn. As we have seen, His Grand Lie, only fools the O6.

Even the silver lining to this dark cloud of an episode,, the reunion of Pen and Dez,, is shrouded by the need to stay hidden. Just how much discussion and talk and planning took place during that week of moving over to Membatta, remains a mystery,,but I have found,, its in what is not disclosed in LOST , where the Hope is ,, the Surreal,, of LOST.
If she withdrew from exaltation, she would be forced to think- And every thought led to fear and contradictions; to dilemmas for which she was unprepared.

Did they refer to him as Jeremy? Or did they say things like "yeah, I saw him, he was calling himself Jeremy". I seem to remember it that way.

I don't want to underestimate the time travel hint. I think the island was moved in time, not in space. And I think that clues pointing towards longevity or reincarnation might be something having more to do with time twiddling.

Jack, Kate and Ben all refered to Locke as Jeremy between themselves, and not anything like "the guy formally known as Locke".

Btw, for you brainiacs:
