I've just finished constructing a massive bong from a piece of bamboo I found on the beach after the floods.
And since I'm not doing anything in any sense but the technical, I've decided to grow a mohawk. :D

Gimme a chance...it's only about 10mm high right now. :D Decided yesterday, and left a strip behind when I shaved my head. :D

I feel pretty good because we had a hellish thunderstorm and for ONCE I'd shut down all my electricals before it hit. There was a lighting strike near my house that set everybody's car alarms off.

This has been a crazy weather season and I've had two close calls with nearly-fried TVs and computers. Perhaps I'm finally learning...

TIRED!!! I biked the 3+ miles to work, filled out paperwork, had a tour of the store, biked the 3+ miles home. I'm exhausted. (also cuz I had to get up at 7:30, and didn't get to bed until after Ali got home around 1.)

then, I made the mistake of laying down on my stomach on my bed. Why, might you ask, was this a mistake? Because my cat missed me while I was gone for the weekend, and has now been sleeping on my back for at least an hour(Cats - gotta love 'em.).

Yep, yep.

I feel energetic. I just finished biking for an hour or so in beautiful, slightly windy weather, and I'm looking forward to this evening when I continue volunteering at the Judo session of a sports camp for the visually impaired.

Sounds like fun! I'd do the same, if I had any top-hair...

Oh damm, the Sudafed just kicked in so it's time to become responsible and pick up Jojo from the kennel, call the Landscaper and try to rearrange this mess of furniture-they picked up the storage unit this morning so I can, at least, say I have a driveway...

Just twitch. That'll get rid of her.

Hmm, I'm tired too -- imagine that. Didn't get home from the airport 'til 1am, as Magickmaker said, and then was stupid enough to stay up and read for a bit. Today, a bunch of us secretaries got together for lunch, in honor of one secretary who will be going out on sabbatical on Thursday. (Our law firm is pretty cool in that regard: if you work here for 10 years, you get a 2-month paid sabbatical; if you stay another 7 years, you get another sabbatical; and so on. That's in addition to your regular annual vacation time. It's a sweet deal. I'm eligible for my first sabbatical next November, whoo hoodey! )

I did. I twitched a lot. She finally got the hint when I made like was gonna roll over. But first she had to dig a claw into my butt to try to stay on...

First day back at work, today. Playing catch up.

I picked up lunch and went down by the river to eat it. A bit of a mistake. The benches near the river bank had water up to their backs, the river is still flooding, and the area had that musty water smell.

Recovering from a state of moderate alarm. While walking through Union Square an hour or so ago, I suddenly found myself in World War II London - or so it seemed, based on the fact that an air raid siren suddenly started wailing. Very unsettling. Turned out to be a test of some kind of emergency warning thing. Urgh.

It is Tuesday. Usually the day they do that sort of thing. If the radio had been on you would have heard a series of annoying buzzing noises, then a canned voice telling you that this is a test but that if it had been an actual emergency they would have told you where to tune for official information.

We have a test like that every Monday morning at 10am, it's the system at the Broadmoor Hospital which lets people know when an inmate has escaped. Broadmoor holds the likes of Robert Maudsley, Kenneth Erskine, Peter Sutcliffe and Ian Brady, so the alarm is a pretty big deal. We're right on the firing line, so it's a case of barricading yourself in if it goes off for real.

Presently I feel quite ill. This morning I felt quite groggy because I forgot I had a beer earlier in the evening and took my sleeping medication, then I went for a swim at lunchtime and did 1km, which was just enough to upset my digestive system.
Q. Why do Communists drink herbal tea?
A. Because proper tea is theft.

I am feeling strangely at once both confident and miserable. Not many - in fact just one of two - people here know that I have been seeing a very intelligent and beautiful woman the last six-seven weeks. We pretty much saw each other every week, as friends, but connected very very well. This week, that connection, in a way, became deeper and more intimate. One of the best weeks I have ever had.

But she left for the United States today, for an interminate time (could be six months, could be a year or more). She left my apartment at 5AM this morning, and at the foyer of the apartment complex, we hugged to say goodbye - a hug that lasted for thirty minutes; neither of us could let go, to say a 'temporary farewell'. It was one of the most beautiful moments of my life, and I just didn't want her to leave me. I could have (and wanted to) hugged her forever. But she had to go, so I had to say farewell and watch her walk away. That nearly broke me.

Now she's gone, and on her way to another country. I miss her so much already. We'll stay in touch, and I told her to come back to me one day. As a friend or more, I don not know.

I've met and been with several women in the past, but this woman was the finest one I have ever met. Intellectually, we were on fire, and hit it off on so many levels. It just pains me like nothing else that I didn't want to let go, but had to see her walk away . . . I'm not depressed - just immensely sad.

...Such sweet sorrow.

Sorry to hear it man. Cherish the memories is the best advice I can offer. Who knows, maybe she will be able to come back to you one day.

Ach. Internet troubles at home. It went down for an hour last night, and was down again this morning. The earliest the repairman can come is Monday.
