The sun came out today, and we actually had a few hours of electricity!! :D No dead bodies today, either. :? Altogether a good day so far. Most of you are just waking up as I type this-- so have a wonderful morning. May your day be filled with your favorite songs, the laughter of children, people you love, and open doors.

Oh...good question (the whichit one). Take your pick, Louise, and you'll probably get it right although today it's probably more that it than the other its.

You confused yet? I am (but that's the general state of my current disposition).

Good for you and Ger not fighting! Are you like me when that happens?: you think "er...wtf is happening?" and expect to wake up in the middle of the night with him standing there with a knife pointing at ya? ;)

My first day off for a while so just feel a bit worn out.
Also found out today that the guy who had the accident outside out house last Sunday night died. So feeling quite drained as well. I never realised quite how much a shocking event can really stick with a person until now.

It's just after 11am here and I have only just got up. I'm so tired. Have no idea why.

Now it's time to be proactive (rather than depressed :P)

So sorry to hear that, Chrys! |G

I bought a pair of socks for hiking today. They cost $15. 8O And after that I went to Sephora and spent $80 on perfume and makeup. When did I get so girly?

Good hiking socks are way expensive, but worth it. And a girl's got to GOT TO feel pretty. :)

I am feeling pretty freakin sassy today. I got carded for the 4th time since I turned 39. I asked Malik if he was paying these people off.

I'm irate and frustrated. My three month old laptop is now unusuable because Windows Vista updated itself and, in so doing, deleted something vitally important. I have a friend in IT who says he can get it working, but it involves formatting. His tip for the future is "You won't have any problems with Vista as long as you never let it update." He could have told me this earlier.

Ooops. I let my laptop update Vista whenever it feels like it. I get frustrated with people who believe that the only thing you can do is reformat.

You should be able to boot up in safe mode and restore your system to an earlier point when everything worked?

"Don't let Windows update" is a policy I've been following for years. It's too bad the version of Windows on my current computer is one after the annoying patch that makes it pop up "automatic updates are turned off" every startup....

I've been sitting out on the back step. I often sit there at nights: sit and smoke and look at the stars.

It's been raining on and off here today--it's very windy and so the sky goes from being clear to clouded quite quickly.

I sat watching the moon just before. I remember sitting out the front of Cag's house at night. There were a few of us sitting there. But I remember Danlo talking to me, and I remember looking up at the moon which had whorls of clouds around it.

It was a Denver Moon out there just now.

And it's a month since I left Denver.

Remember that day Lucimay: we ate at the place where Billy Bob Thornton had been (was it a taco bell?)...saw his signature on a photo in a frame on the wall; and we listened to Australian Irish music featuring a didgeridoo on the radio; and it rained; and we had coffee at flying J's, only to find the Starbucks a little later on--the Starbucks with the guy who opened the door...and the one that made us coffee and spoke about pride week.

I yelled at you in the car but you still came to the hotel with me; and there was the cop there who got out of his car and pulled his gun. "Is that a gun?!" you said. "I think it's a f*cking gun!" I said.

I remember the day I left Denver.

...and I just needed to get that off my chest.

Laptop back in action.

That was my friend's first suggestion too, but even Safe Mode wasn't working. I had access to nothing but Command Prompt, and my computer skills don't extend to knowing how to use that.

In the end, though, I didn't need him to do anything. I accidentally tricked the laptop into repairing itself by pulling the plug in frustration immediately after switching it on. The next time I switched it on it spent an hour so telling me it was repairing, and now it's fine.

EDIT: Gah! Now Windows is telling me it's going to update again the next time I switch on. How do I stop it doing this automatically?

It's not just Microsoft. Apple recently changed it's .Mac to MobileMe. Well, MobileMe wiped out my address book during a sync.

Start it in safe mode without network support, then turn off your auto-update?

I don't feel so great. I have had a stressful couple of weeks. I am tired out and sad. I have to study for my exam in one week.

Bleah! :(

It must still be giving Cov trouble because he keeps getting kicked offline... :?

I had a good weekend. I went and had a nice dinner with my friends Niall and Tadhg on Friday night. Then after dinner Tadhg went home and Niall and I met up with Harry and six of Niall's twenty something IT workmates. It was lots of fun. Then Saturday I had brunch with some other friends, Terry and Canaan and then I hung out and read voraciously for hours. I finished "Bonehunters" and now I started "A Game of Thrones." Sunday was laundry and BLT sandwiches with Lucimay and we sat outside the cafe and talked to CovJr on the phone. I love my extended international calling that I did not even know was on my cell plan. :P After laundry, Lucimay and I ran some errands and then more reading. Tonight I am forcing myself to do some house chores. My place is a mess. 8)

I've found through careful observation that I'm charged when you call me. We'll have to be more careful; I can't afford many international calls.

Unplug the internet until you have the setting changed.

I actually had no idea how to change the setting. I lack 1337 skills. :P I've figured it out though.
