I'm angry at food service at my university, and hungry because of the reason that I'm angry. See my post in the Pet Peeves thread for the details.
I'm also content because I went on a long walk today and had a lovely conversation on the phone with my mom and little brother.
And I'm hyper--a little too much caffeine and adrenaline (Mountain Dew and long walks tend to have that effect).

I had a rather interesting day, which began on my way to work with my bus being surrounded by unmarked police cars and swarmed with about a dozen plainclothes policemen, who dragged a guy off the bus. I was fairly impressed at how smoothly the whole thing was handled - it was like something out of a movie. Also wondering what the guy did to rate such treatment. 8O

Arrived at work to find a copy of Toll the Hounds waiting for me, thanks to Luci and Jenn. MANY thanks to Luci and Jenn. |G

Work was pretty uneventful, but on my way home I ran into a co-worker from my last job... who mentioned that my ex-boss used to say rather horrible things about me to her, which she was rather uncomfortable with being that she was practically a stranger and the whole thing was terribly unprofessional, plus the fact that she had worked with me enough to know that none of the stuff was even true.

Not that I feel any need to be vindicated, but it was still good to hear.

I am very curious today.. Being so, paid off a few times at work..as in,, if not for my curiosity.. a few necessary communications would not have happened and thus daily goals would have been missed.so I helped the team. But now..i still have the curiosity..ammm... Sorus..of course this is tacky,,but..following your account of this looney bin of an ex boss has been fascinating,,yet,, in all tackyness..i have to ask,,mite you be able and willing to let us in on those things she said about you to your ex co-worker? I'm just trying to get the full dimension of this person..thats all. You have me on a hook here..

Good day today so far. Of course, there's still time for things to screw up. (Yes, I *do* like to think positively! ) We had doughnuts this morning at a welcome thingum for our new Secretarial Dept. manager (read: the person they hired instead of me). She seems perfectly nice.

I believe all the financial stuff is now squared away for the first payment for Batty and Magick to go to Venice in January. That was a little stressful yesterday. Gotta love university business office folks. Apparently they can't move money electronically from one account to another -- nooo, that would be too simple and modern-day. Instead, they have to get approval from Financial Aid to take the money from the kid's account, then cut a paper check, then deposit the paper check into the Music Dept. trip account. Which century are we in, again?

That sounds twice as easy as the $#!+ they make us go through at my university to get anything done whatsoever. But then, they make the students do all the running around in circles instead of just doing stuff themselves like they should because it is their job.

I think I'm coming down with a cold. And I might have a mild case of TMJ. And I'm tired as hell. But other than that I'm ok.

Oh no, you misunderstand -- it's the students who have to make like ping-pong balls and go back and forth from Music Dept. to Fin Aid to the Business Office to the Music Dept.

Oh, well then it sounds about the same. What is up with university bureaucracies?

It's the same way at my alma mater--it's amazing how you're actually treated as a human being once you hit Grad school....

Feeling a bit better than I was this time last week. My dad passed away a week past Friday.
He'd been ill for a while, but it was still quite sudden. So spent the week arranging his funeral and catching up with my aunts and uncles.
Might not be around here for a while, but just thought I'd let you guys know.
Hope you're all doing well.
All the best.

I am emotionally buoyed by being able to witness a fantastic sunset last evening and an equally fascinating sunrise this morning. Such is Life. My condolences to you and yours Phantasm.
