You should just give it all up and move to the us. I know where you can stay. I'm sure we can figure out how to get you a visa, CovJr. On other notes, it's five thirty in the morning. I am tired. I woke up from a freaky dream and found le dogglish staring at me. I got up, went out with le doggles who peed like a maniac and I smoked and thought about what I need to make Jenn's uber lasagna for my friend Bob tonight. Also thought about my phone call last night where my bud Buzz up in Oregon retired. I am so freaking happy for him. He sounds so up for the first time in years and his daughter Jolene is having her third child so he's getting another natural grandkid. I say this because Buzz was married four times and so he told me that between all his wives and the kids he did adopt and the ones he didn't he is havingis 39TH grandkid. So now picture a short bald guy with the massive silver belt buckle and cowboy boots playing golf. He's taken it up. hahhahahaha. I told him on the phone, YOU??? GOLF?????You have got to be kidding. He said that in one of the reasons for calling me. My laughing at his golfing. Gah. Why am I having such weird dreams when everyone is doing so well? Lady tam is doing much better than expected. Whoo hoody!

Relieved.

I had a meeting outside the office this morning. When I got back, I found I didn't have my blackberry with me. After a couple of calls, it was found it in the waiting room of the office I was at.

They are a pain to get replaced if lost. I'm glad I didn't have to make that call.

Not as tired as I expected today, given that a couple of Watchers kept me up late last night. ;)

Today must be "forgetfulness" day, Damelon. I realized on my way to work that I'd left the cellphone on the breakfast bar. So I e-mailed the girls to let them know. Batty e-mailed me back to say that she'd left *her* cell at home today, too. So we proceeded to point and laugh at each other via e-mail.

Sarge: What a mess. My best to all.

I have given up smoking and despite telling myself this is a good thing my little voice says "you LOVE smoking" and I think "correct, I do" and continue to chew on this most unsatisfying gum. <grumble grumble>

Today I have kinder duty (bah) and then have to go to SoS's school (he's having a short orientation--starts school in January next year...growing up he is!). So there goes my day of relaxation; and if SoS calls me "cigarette head" one more time I'll chop his head off!!!

I made my infamous lasagna today and it was good. Danlo and I had our friend Bob over for dinner and it was tons of fun. We yammered about authors and movies and books and life and it was good. I feel good. Leslie was feeling good enough to join us for a good portion of the evening. She's so tough, I tell ya, I would not want to have her mad at me and run into her in a dark alley. I would not come out the winner. I might crawl out. If I came out at all. Vertebrae replacement on Thursday, home the next day, refusing her pain meds today and dressing and socializing for dinner four days after spinal surgery and YES I said no pain meds. She's amazing. Life is good.

I spoke to the administrator about it when I found out, and she told me, basically, that when a timetable says 'final' it doesn't mean final, and she has the right to change it whenever she sees fit without warning or informing anyone it affects. So now I have to have a fight with the head of the department to try and get myself de-yellowed.

I've had enough of this shit. I really have.
That's asinine, Covenant. It really is. I hate the way universities think they can play games like this with students and take away your rights. Have you spoken to the Student's Union, if you have one?
It worked out in the end. I had an angry (but relatively polite and verbose*) rant at the head of the history department by email (since it's hard to catch him in his office). I expected him to come down on the admin's side of the dispute, since she works for him, but instead he replied to me with words to the effect of "I'm very sorry, rest assured that your 'yellow cards' have now been removed, and I agree it's ridiculous that a timetable marked as final is not final". I couldn't help grinning. Ray is a formidable man, and Tracy (the admin) is notoriously uncooperative; the thought that she might suffer at his hands as a result of this mess pleases me.

*including such choice phrases as "my absence from the seminar was caused by unclear (I hesitate to say "poor") administration rather than an error on my part" and "I also request that the word "final" is reserved for timetables that actually ARE final".

Glad to hear that it all worked out in the end. :)

I feel like I want to play hooky from work and go driving and take pictures of the fall leaves. Unfortunately I have work I must do.

Yeah, this whole "working for a living" thing is really inconvenient. :D T-minus 3 days and 3 hours 'til my next week off....

I know, Ali. . . I seem to get all my best creative ideas and moods when I am at work and can't possibly get away.

I am lucky in that I make my own schedule, and as long as I meet my productivity I can come and go as I please. That means that I only work 3 hours every other Friday. :D
Tomorrow I only have appointments from 12-4, so it will be a short day also. On the other hand, some days I spend 8 or more hours with clients, and then have to do my daily paperwork as well. I suppose every job has its pros and cons.

What are you doing for your vacation, Ali?

It's the last day of my "vacation." I leave Albuquerque around eightish tonight though technically I'll have to be at the airport before that. It's been great just lounging and hanging and playing with Grace and loving on the puppy and yammering with Danlo and Lady Tam. I don't wanna go but unfortunately I must. Plus I have to admit I miss the heck out of my Mooseman. He's gonna be five kinds of pissed off when he gets a whiff of me and thinks to himself that I have been gone for a week and come home reeking of another dog. 8O

 Yes, safe trip home, Jenn!

Lyr -- I'm not doing anything much next week. I have a couple of health-related appointments scheduled (checkups, nothing too scary!) and was going to take Friday off anyhow to drive to Roanoke for Family Weekend at the girls' college. So since it seemed like I would be out of the office more than in , I decided to just take the whole week off. I'm going to clean the house :P and have dinner with a friend and maybe do a museum day. And knit and play with the cat and sleep.

Tonight is a double edged sword. I am feeling somewhat melancholy since I left Danlo's house. It does feel good to be back in my apartment though. I am also a little lonely because Heatherly called while I was in transit and left a message that she didn't drop off Moose this afternoon so she is gonna bring him to me at work tomorrow afternoon instead. :(
