HAPPY HALLOWEEN PEOPLE!!!! It's going to be an up and down day for me. I can tell already. Moose was restless and kept waking me up all night by walking on me so I slept like crap. Got up cranky and trundled around and got ready for work. Then on my way out, one of the girls from the building was on the stairs with her mom and they were headed to school. She was dressed as Wonder Woman so I said, "Wow, Wonder Woman, I didn't know you lived in this building, that's so cool." and she giggled and said, "I'm not the real Wonder Woman." and so I said, "Are you sure? You look like the real Wonder Woman." and she giggled some more and said, "It's a costume for the Halloween party at school." so I said, "Well, you should consider a future career in crime fighting because you look like you would be great at it." Her mom was laughing at this point and we told each other to have a great day. Then I missed my bus. Up and down.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

I am moving into the category of loathing my job. Utterly. That is all.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN, TOO! I already helped the kids scare my wife with a big giant hairy spider that jumped out of the kitchen cabinet. Heading out to get ready for my T|T duties any minute.

Hahaha, with a few recent exceptions, Halloween is largely a non-event here. Enjoy yourselves anyway. :D

Last year, our first Halloween since we moved out of Village Housing, we had no trick-or-treaters here. But then, we didn't decorate in anyway either, so perhaps the kids didn't know to stop. Although I haven't seen that many kids around since we moved here; the neighborhood seems to be mostly part of the UF student ghetto I guess.

I went ahead and carved a pumpkin and will put a yahrzeit candle inside to illuminate it at sunset anyway. We have the stack of DVDs I got at Target for 25 cents each a couple of years ago specifically to give to trick-or-treaters. I always enjoy seeing the littles in costume, and is one of the things I miss about my last job...

I do hope some kids stop by...

Lucimay informed me earlier today that the kids in the building don't trick or treat at our doors. I'm very saddened by that. I always get a kick out of the costumes. I'm also very generous with good candy as well. Bummer.

we will get a handful of kids. julie will make sit outside with her as they get their fill.

julie, her sis and their mom are spending the weekend in houston. so i shall rent some horror films and spend the weekend with our dog, sonny. he will get mommy's side of the bed - so he will be happy. and yes, he likes to be covered up when it gets cold.

We don't get a lot. Three girls just stopped by, but if we get another group I'd be surprised.

We don't get any kids, because my apartment doesn't do that sort of thing.

This is beginning to resemble Foamfollower's chat with Covenant on the boat: with each response, the story gets sadder. (But I'm glad the Halloween spirit is alive elsewhere.)

We had 10 kids show up tonight!
From about 8:00 pm until 9:30 pm.
I guess putting out the jack o'lantern made a difference.

I'll leave the porch light on for five more minutes, until 10:00 pm. After that, I won't answer the door anymore, even though I still have quite a few DVDs. I just feel that's a bit too late for kids to be out knocking on strangers doors...

Well, two young boys stopped by after I posted, then a foursome. That's it.

I came home from Moose's evening walk and Jorge was hanging out in the hallway and insisted I come in for a beer. Moose was running around his place like a madman and I tried to get him to behave but Jorge thought it was funny that Moo was up on the couch and all over the bed and forth so I let him be a maniac. I drank my beer and we chatted about his upcoming trip. He showed me pictures of his family farm and he polished off three beers to my one before his friend showed up. For those who don't know who Jorge is, he's the crazy building super where Lucimay and I live. Originally when Jorge told me he was going on his trip he said he was going to be gone for three months and tonight he said it's changed to six. Jeez I hope I don't accidentally kill his houseplants... 8O :P

..well..i went and bought two bags of Reese's PB cups,,with the logic that if nobody showed up,, i would enjoy their truancy . Then the local new stations were broadcasting reminders.. now get this.. they were reminding Sex Offenders that they were supposed to turn off their porch lites and close their drapes and not decorate..so as to keep the Trick or Treaters from entering their realm.. .... ....

So every one who didn' t lite up their property and decorate ..is a sex offender? Yea.. well,,despite the porch lite on,,and plastic pumpkin bag filled with old clothes,,no Trick or Treaters ..not one..came to the door. Reeses PB cups are so good.

We only had the next door neighbor's kids show up plus a few kids from the other end of the block. Usually we get about 20-25 kids, and we treat them pretty well (handfuls of candy and a soda or two). My little sister didn't even stop at our house, and she lives here! Then my brother stole all the good candy before I could get to it. Oh well. At least I got to costume up for a little bit (first time in at least 5 years).

I feel a bit down today. Not sure exactly what it is. It's probably a combination of Monday blues, dreary weather and lots of things on my mind.

We had zero trick-or-treaters. Zero. The bleeding walls must have been more of a deterrent than anticipated. That or the 55 mph road with no sidewalk.
... nobody I know.
