I'm really excited to hear that you're using a doula! I have a friend who's really into all that stuff(she's thinking of becoming a doula, and also considering being a midwife), and has shared a lot of information about it with me.
If you don't mind my asking, are you planning to use a midwife or a regular doctor? Are you going to have the baby at home, or in a hospital?

yeah, I think I did pretty well on the test. Probably a B. I'll see when I get it back...

Dumped. By text, no less. It's all I can do to badger her into provisionally agreeing to think about actually speaking to me face to face.

I'm not angry. I just feel broken. I really thought it was going to be different this time.

Damn it, where are Watchers when I need them? It's the middle of the night and I've only got one friend to talk to right now - and his 'comforting' is, roughly, "stop crying, drink heavily and move on to another girl".

That's always the hard part of a breakup, for me. The girl has always become my closest friend, or one of them. So when it's over...I have no-one to help me through it. The person I'd normally talk to is the person I need to talk about.

I've never had a breakup experience (never having had the experiences that lead to such an event), so I have no advice or platitudes to help you through what must be a devastating time for you. Know that you have my sympathy.

I'm around, I just normally don't comment on such personal affairs. But I'm sorry about your situation, Cov.

Damn, sorry to hear it Cj. It'll work out in the end, one way or another, although that's little enough comfort at the moment.

What, Covenant?!? You've been cheating on me??? But... we have so much. The long conversations... the sphenoid... doesn't that mean anything to you?

I think that *I* am the one who needs some comforting, buddy.

Sorry to hear that Cov *big hugs*
I've been going through something similar recently so I know the feeling of wanting comfort!

How about planning a trip down to London? A few of us can take you out and just distract you from stuff!

Finally got an explanatory email. It was a bit cursory, but gave me what I needed - an idea of what she's thinking. Essentially, the email is 'I realised we want different things. I don't mean to shut you out, but I need time.'

That really is all I needed to know. I'm still upset at the end of the relationship, but I'm much calmer. The frustration is gone now she's actually explained.

So now we're agreed that I'll leave her be for the time being, and when she's ready she'll speak to me and we can try to at least be amicable acquaintances, if not actual friends. I've never yet succeeded in being friends with an ex-girlfriend, but I have managed to stay civil with one (you know, occasionally have a coffee and catch up) and I think it's something that's worth trying to do.

In the end, all our romances fail. Well, except for one, if we're lucky. So far I haven't been lucky enough to succeed, but my last failure netted me five beautiful children, so it wasn't all loss. So, don't feel bad, and remember; you only have to win once.

breakups are hard. I always try to have someone else lined up first. ;)

Seriously though, glad you're feeling better Covy. Love sucks sometimes, but I think it's worth it (when it's going good!).

I've had a productive day working. My back/neck/earache has finally gone (I was thinking I'd have to go to the doctor as I've had it for days...hopefully it stays away now!). Had a yack and a good laugh with a buddy of mine today.

so it's been a good day.

Miss my Louise though. :(
