I caught some of A Bridge Too Far on TV years ago but remember it as being dull. Maybe I need the clarity of DVD to appreciate the movie. The real life event is certainly compelling and very tragic. This is a succinct summary of the failed assault at Arnhem, for those (like me) who need a refresher: www.historylearningsite.co.uk/arnhem.htm

Aside from the logistical problems, it appears they underestimated the strength of the enemy. Funny how that always happens.

It wasn't like it should have been a surprise... the movie showed several people warning of problems, only to be ignored or (in one case) actually transferred to a different unit so they wouldn't "rock the boat."

We finally saw Quarantine last great.

Great movie! The pacing was a little uneven, but it felt much more "real" than many other movies do (especially horror ones).

As soon as it's out here in the States, I'll be seeing REC.

I watch Starship Troopers 3 the other night. Awful. What's worse is that I bought the dvd (because I like the first movie). The religious ending was terrible.

3 is better than 2, 2 was truly awful.

It's your own fault for watching something that's direct to DVD :)

Actually, Direct to DVD no longer has that same stigma anymore

The last 3 movies I tried that were direct to DVD were among some of the worst films I've ever seen in my life. And I've seen some rather poor films (Ishtar, anyone? Or how about Amazon Women in the Avocado Jungle of Death?)

I'm captured by the tv for the duration of the tennis finals at Indian Wells. They've got a big wind factor. Ivanovic and Zvonerava have been trading momentum. Ivanovic's coach told her, "Don't worry about the wind, the ball will tell you what to do." I thought that was an interesting view -- hard for Ivanovic to follow, though. She finally lost a long first set.

Next up, Nadal and Murray, currently the two biggest threats in the game.

The tennis? Finals. Nadal went 61 62 against Murray because he worked better with the wind. Or maybe because he's the best player in the world.

Now I'm playing the "Ladies in Lavender" CD. Watched the movie, and then the director's commentary that he calls "A Fairy Tale". It's a sweet story, Judy Dench and Maggie Smith.

One of my favorite movies, period.

One of these days, Dragonlily, I'm going to break down and get HDTV service, and I'll be sorely tempted to get some hi-def tennis action as part of it.

Regarding The Great Escape, I hope they also make available The Great Escape II: The Untold Story. It was a TV miniseries that I really enjoyed.

Well, I was prepared to see Star Trek 11 with Rachael tomorrow night when I discovered that it is out next month. :(

I am not happy.
