Other options, sequels welcome:

- Xanadu
- Dungeon Master
- Crystalis
- Star Ocean
- Tales of Phantasia
- Shadowrun (Gen)
- Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance
- Dungeon Siege
- X-Men: Legends
- Vampire: the Masquerade
- Freedom Force
- Sacred
- Sudeki
- Fate

I didn't include Elder Scrolls, seems to me that its more a RPG/Action game then a Action/RPG...know what I mean?

I have a low opinion of Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. It's a very weak RPG.

Most hard-core RPG'ers seem to have that opinion of it...

Gotta go with Castlevania. Ive played it more than diablo (the first anyway) but not by much. Hard to choose between the two, they are so close to perfect.

If your gonna include Deus Ex, might as well include SS2 also. (Another masterpiece)

Haven't played many of these. I guess I will go with Mass Effect...? But very tempted to go w/ deus ex instead.

Another pretty good action RPG in the vein of zelda is the dark cloud series. Not much in the way of an interesting story, but very fun gameplay.

I've only been playing Oblivion for a few days, but I'm really enjoying it so far. In mythology, setting and atmosphere it's far inferior to Morrowind, but a lot of the gameplay mechanics are better.

In any case, I've played very few of the listed games. From this selection I'd probably go with Mass Effect (unless we place Morrowind in Oblivion's slot, in which case my vote changes).

Despite all the praise various people heap upon Deus Ex, I found it an irritating playing experience. Ambitious (which is good) but ultimately mediocre.

Honourable mention goes to the Legacy of Kain series - the most convolutedly plotted and superbly acted series of games I've ever played.

Burn the Heathen!

Deus Ex deserves to win no matter what list it's placed on! Easily the best video game ever!

Deus ex is awesome, but it was awesome mostly for the things that is has in common with System Shock 2, which is a better game. (Also might be the best horror game ever made. And the best science fiction game ever made...)
