Thanks for the suggestions. Most of the titles and authors aren't available here, but I will be in the US this year for a while and have to stock up! But since I'm poor, maybe some kind folks can mail me their old paperbacks!!!

I think I'd actually be willing to mail you some books

The stuff I have that people have listed, if anything in particular struck you, is:
-China Mieville (perdido st station)
-Bakker's Prince of Nothing series (all that are out)
-Erikson's Malazan series (except the first two I lent the first one and have misplaced the second. I'm not sure if my friend is reading the first so I might be able to get it for you if you want me to ask him)
-TH White's The Once and Future King. (arthur book, so if you are insane and don't like arthur, don't ask for it)
-Zindell's Requiem for Homo Sapiens (don't think I have the second book anymore, but I'd be willing to order a copy because I love this series SO much). This is sci-fi. I didn't like his first fantasy book that much so I only have the first in the series.
-Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell (not actually sure if this is in my possession anymore)
-The Gormenghast series
-The Worm Ouroboros (may be something only I like)
-George RR Martin's series (I think I might have lent the first book out...)

That being said: most of these books are at my house, and are unavailable to me ATM. So can't do it till may. What I'm saying is, I can't mail you anything at the moment but if you are interested, give me a PM and I'll do it in a few weeks. Also, some of them are in a series so I might be a little niggardly about sending you books 3-8 of the malazan series if you've never read any of them.
((even if I go weeks or months without posting, I usually log in at least once a week so give it a try.))

Also, I know for a fact that the entire manuscript of Gardens of the Moon is on google books because I sent the link to a friend a while ago (lent him a really beaten up copy with a missing prologue and wanted to make sure he could read it). But, is that legal?

My thoughts exactly. We all love Donaldson, but in spite all his new inventions and brilliant prose he HAS been borrowing loads of stuff from JRR. Hell, JRR was probably inspired by Wagner too, so perhaps it isn't so strange.

Oh, yes. Notably from an ancient, interminable Nordic saga where basically everybody dies-- as JRRT readily admitted. But there was enough soul in his story that if he were to have peopled Middle-earth with characters from Ronald McDonaldLand, it would have been fresh and original.

Ya. However, I think that to some extent the lines of influence may not be seen. I assume most people compare Tolkien's ring to Wagners; I dunno what Wagner's ring is like, but I know that the "cursed pile of gold" that fafnir guards operates in a similar fashion to the ring (makes its owners paranoid, killing those close to them to safeguard the gold, and eventually transforms them from their original form into something more monstrous.)
