Good luck on snagging that Mediterranean idyll, LF!
Hopefully you've made it home safely by now, Jenn...
It's *always* freezing here at work lately. It's usually okay in the mornings, but it gets gradually colder in the afternoons -- to the point that I have to put on a sweater inside and take it off to go out. Didn't used to affect me so much, but these past few months have been bad. (Older? Thinner? Carrels on this floor are colder than the ones on my old floor? Who knows why?) Anyhow, I brought in some soup today to heat up for lunch, thinking maybe a hot lunch would help me stay warm through the afternoon. It's not working. Bah.
So I called in stupid to work yesterday.

Started a batch of yogurt around 7pm Sunday night. Usually takes about 5 hours; midnight's not my optimal bedtime but it's doable. I normally use a bit of the previous batch of yogurt as starter for the new batch, but this time I thought maybe I should use up some of the powdered starter that came with the yogurt maker. So I do the usual stuff and put the vat in the yogurt maker and pull it out to check it around 12:15am. The container goes
slosh. So I belatedly check the directions on the box of starter, and it says that instead of cooling the milk to 112 degrees F before adding the starter, you should cool it to 77 degrees F. Well, that explains what happened -- I killed the starter. So I thought, well, at this point all I've got is warm milk -- I could just cool it down to 77 and put new starter in it and all should be well. Which worked, but it took until 2:30am to cool the milk to 77 degrees. At that point, I decided to call in sick....
But I did penance by spending all day yesterday cleaning the house.
