Classic.
I saw Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs last night, and it was surprisingly good. Not quite as good as Up, but the closest thing to it kidwise to come out this summer. Some of the jokes were aimed solely to the adults, and it didn't go for the easy toilet humor jokes. There was a line in there about an amuse bouche, and I think I was the only person in the theater that laughed.

"It is not the literal past that rules us, save, possibly, in a biological sense. It is images of the past. Each new historical era mirrors itself in the picture and active mythology of its past or of a past borrowed from other cultures. It tests its sense of identity, of regress or new achievement against that past.”

I watched the miniseries, Supervolcano tonight. This is the third that I have viewed it, and it's just as interesting as the first time it was watched. My only issue is that the dialog is full of exposition - the movie is an exposition dump. However, given that it's a fictional documentary that's to be expected.
I just finished Highlander and i honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. Average.
But if you're all about the destination, then take a fucking flight.
We're going nowhere slowly, but we're seeing all the sights.
And we're definitely going to hell, but we'll have all the best stories to tell.
Full of the heavens and time.

Y'know, if I'm honest with myself, it really is an average movie. I think because I was expecting nothing from it, it was much better than what I thought it was going to be. I do think the love story is heartbreaking and the soundtrack is fantastic (but I'm a Queen fan), and the scene in the car with the baddie screaming along with the lady was something special. And Sean Connery is fun in it. But otherwise, the rest is pretty average. The fact that they don't explain anything makes it great too, which is what they ruined in the sequel.Warmark wrote:I just finished Highlander and i honestly don't see what all the fuss is about. Life is a waste of time
Time is a waste of life
So get wasted all of the time
And you'll have the time of your life
Not to mention the ending, when he makes his choice...

Highlander is crap, but it's entertaining crap. The movie is totally sold by the performances of Connery and Clancy Brown.

Worst and most unnecessary.

The Village is, I think, one of the worst failures of corporate studio history.Cagliostro wrote:Yeah, I dragged some friends to it (Highlander 2) on my birthday. I had to apologize for it afterwards.
The same thing happened when I dragged friends to The Village.
It really was a good movie; it just wasn't the movie that was advertised. People went in expecting straight up horror, and instead got something thought provoking and insightful (and also rather slow).

Yea, that's always been my belief, if hadn't been sold as a Horror movie, I may have actually enjoyed it. I may go back one day and watch it again, with full knowledge of what it actually is, and see if I can't get enjoyment out of it.Rigel wrote:The Village is, I think, one of the worst failures of corporate studio history.Cagliostro wrote:Yeah, I dragged some friends to it (Highlander 2) on my birthday.
