I looked for this in search but didn't see a similar topic. Mods feel free to merge it if I messed up.

Someone asked me today about movie suggestions and as I went through my suggestions I realized that I have a very eclectic list of favorite movies. There just does not seem to be a rhyme or reason to them.

A lot of them are horror because my friends generally say they like horror... then they actually see one and find out they don't much care for it

I remember there was minor hoopla over it because it featured David Bowie - right as he was in the midst of his very successful Let's Dance "comeback" album. I didn't see the film because the subject matter seemed too depressing for me at the time.

Great film. I own both the DVD and the soundtrack

Any soundtrack by Ryuichi Sakamoto (who also played the base captain) is worth owning. Takeshi Kitano, Tom Conti, Jack Thompson, David Bowie...what's not to love about this film? Fantastic movie. One of the best international collaborations out there.

Anyway, back to the topic - here's my list, copied and pasted from another thread asking the same kind of thing:

Alright, going by the idea that these are my 'favourite' movies, not necessarily the ones I think are the best ever made (though my number one would be the same for both lists):

1 - Seven Samurai
2 - Excalibur
3 - The Exorcist
4 - Taxi Driver

7 - Stray Dog

10 - Who Wants to Kill Jessie?

Pushed for 15, I'd probably add:

11 - Throne of Blood
12 - Macbeth (Roman Polanski version)
13 - Aguirre, Wrath of God
14 - The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
15 - Dalek Invasion of Earth 2150 AD (pulp film classic and childhood favourite, despite its many flaws)

Well I wouldn't suggest my list to anyone else but it's genrally based on films that no matter what mood I'm in, if they pop up on tv, I stay to watch. I know I'm echoing many of some of the previous posts.
Ask me again in a year and I'm sure I'll have a different list.

1. The Incredibles (possibly the most perfect film ever made).
2. Empire Strikes Back
3. The Wrath of Khan
4. Matrix (not the crap tacked on to make quick cash)
5. Return of the King
6. Die Hard (honestly any of them fit the bill)
7. Galaxy Quest
8. Big Trouble In Little China
9. Army of Darkness
10. Iron Man
11. Highlander (There should be only one!)
12. Spiderman II
13. Aliens/Alien
14. Terminator II

I couldn't recommend this film highly enough, and I'd hope that some people who've never heard of it and see your mention of it would actually rent it out.

Well, it's incredibly hard for me to pick favorites (now picking good movies, that's incredibly easy). I went down the list of movies I own, and picked out the ones I thought would fit the list... and ended up with 33. So, I mercilessly applied the scythe, and ended up with this.

Bear in mind, there are plenty more movies out there that should be on this list, but 15 is a rather low number for something...
