Rigel, it is hard to tell you where to start...
Furls started a thread in memory of her brother in the Hall of Gifts way back in 2003. To understand, I highly recommend you read the entire thread. But it is loooong (120 pages).

Stephen C. McKinney Memorial Thread (1969-2001)

That said, this last storm was first hinted at in this post by Fire Daughter (Furls daughter, Brooke). If you can not read the entire thread, start there and finish the thread out. The journey through this storm is heartwrenching.

...but you will gain understanding.

Rigel, as a Donaldson fan, you are accustomed to long stories with much beauty and much pain. This is surely one.

Menolly has pointed the way to the whole story -- I recommend that journey if you have the patience -- but if you want a quick path to understanding, start here

That doesn't sound good, Stone....

It's snowing here. We're only supposed to get a dusting but it started just a little while ago and it already looks pretty darned dusted out there. I'm not looking forward to driving to the Metro station in the morning. :(

They now want to check references and have me come back next week and take their psychometrics test. Recruiter said that would take "serveral" hours. I think they're serious and just want to be thorough. Time will tell.

Thanks everyone for the good thoughts and vibes!!!!! :D
Psychometrics test taken. Results did not disqualify me (results are generally ok or not ok) and they have checked my references. And they have verbally extended me an offer!!! :D

And, in the same day, a job lead that had been simmering literally for months came suddenly to a boil and now I have two offers to choose from. 8O

It really is a tough decision, both jobs are great jobs, challenging and rewarding. It may sound like I'm complaining, but I'm not. Two, four, six months ago I would have been happy to get just one, so I know I'm blessed to get two now. But I feel a little sad because I'm going to have to turn one of them down. So, I'm making some lists this weekend, plan on doing some thinking and then plan on deciding by Monday. And then get back to work.

I had a great day hanging out with Bloodguard Bob and Lucimay for brunch and then laundry with Lucimay for the first time in too long. I have missed that girl something fierce.
Now if I could just find a way to wear live bees as jewelry all the time.....

Hey, why can't I get laundry time with Lucimay, too? Do I have to take a number or what?

Yes, take a number. That's the ticket...and you know what they say about no ticket in relation to laundry!

MM, I'm sure Jenn and Luci would love to do laundry with you -- but you'll have to haul your laundry to San Francisco.

Maybe not quite that violent  but the sentiment is much the same.

Gently nudging the whole day down should be sufficient.

Well, how's the whole day suppose to learn it's place? It should at least be beat down :P

Well, 2010 just keeps on keepin' on. Heard on the radio on the way home tonight that I guy I used to work with, when I worked at that station, has died. He was one of our weekend anchors back when I was a weekend editor. Really nice guy.

First Furls, now Gary. Damn. :(

I'm going to write the day a strongly worded letter. That'd do it.
