Another Possibility for Covenant

Post by Xar »

Hm, I found another actor whom I think could look the part, although he's probably a tad bit older than 30 (for the FC) or 40 (for the SC) now... It's John Glover, probably known recently for his role in the Smallville TV series. Take a look at the pictures of him Google comes up with!

YES! Though, as you said, a little on the old side now. And I know nothing about his acting skills.

Admittedly, I've mostly seen him in Smallville, where he plays an amoral, white-collar villain; still, I liked the way he plays, and several moments in the various episodes made me think of different moments for Covenant in the Chronicles.

and here's an old one:

I can almost hear Lionel Luthor exclaiming "hellfire and bloody damnation",or "don't touch me",if he were younger he would make an excellent Covenant.

Hell he would make a good Stephen R Donaldson.

 I thought the same thing! If we can't get SRD for future Elohimfests, maybe we can get a stand-in.

Of course, John Glover is a full 15 years OLDER than Hugh Laurie, TRULY making him WAY out of reach timewise for the role.

Dunno, looks pretty good to me, age notwithstanding. Purely on appearance, he could be Covenant I think.

Agreed... besides, I would guess that Covenant's situation at the beginning of the Chronicles was hard enough to warrant him developing some wrinkles out of frustration or anger, and Glover does look the part. Plus, he has the gaunt, thin and worn look that I'd expect from Covenant - that kind of look that would make him look like a prophet in TIW, for example.

Definitely. Never really pictured Covenant as "young" myself, even in the beginning of the 1st Chrons. Gaunt and worn sums it up. Hell, he'd had a rough life.

Agreed. He looks pretty good. Almost a perfect fit if he weren't so old.

It'd take you a long time to blow up or shoot all the sheep in this country, but one diseased banana...could kill 'em all.

I didn't even know sheep ate bananas.

Well, there are a few of us on the Watch who think that Christian Bale is the perfect TC so you are not far off the mark.

Glover was amazing as the Devil in the short-lived TV series "Brimstone". I've enjoyed his work in everything I've seen him in.

Never would have thought of him myself, but he's a very good fit physically. I've never seen TC as being a young man myself... was astounded to read here that in LFB he was supposed to be in his thirties! Never pictured it that way.

He would do a good job as TC; but I think he would serve better as the Creator...I can just see him in that ochre robe...
