2010 Watchy spotlight

Post by aliantha »

In an effort to keep Menolly from spamming all the forums again next year (just kidding, Menolly! ), MM suggested that we put a Spotlight thread in each forum.

For GenDisc, this is that thread. 8)

Throughout the year, if you see a GenDisc post that you'd like to nominate for a 2010 Watchy, make a note of it in this thread. But please remember that this is not an *official* nomination thread. You'll have to come back here in early 2011 to find your notes, and then post your nomination in the Watchy forum.

Questions? Ask Menolly.

While I have it in my mind, the thread: About all things Automotive by CameramanJenn will and should be in the running for a Watchy next year.

You know, I had braced myself for a reprimand, not for such speedy adoption of the idea. 8O

Anyway...

Gotta spotlight luci's post about getting her job back:

MM I totally agree. On a side note, how do you reference a post half way down a page - I've always wondered how to do it...

If you look at the very top of a post, you''ll see the word "Posted:" and a date.

Just to the left is a small icon. That icon is the post id. Right-click on it and save the link location, and that'll be the link direct to that specific post.

For example, the url for your post above is kevinswatch.ihugny.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=754712#754712

Esmer took some screen shots to demonstrate this a couple of years ago...
...in a Watchy thread. ;)

screen shots showing how to link

Scroll down where I describe right clicking on the document icon instead of doing all he went through and below that he has another graphic showing how the "copy shortcut" works.

He he!

I'm not a big forum person, so it was nice to know a little trick! There's never a tips n tricks section

EDIT: Actually there probably is.... but I can't find it...
