DVD ripping

Post by Cybrweez »

Anyone know of good software to rip DVD movies to computer? For Windows Vista, preferably free. Apparently, not easy to find.

I use DVD Shrink. It's free, takes up negligible space on your hard drive (barely 2 MB) and gives you very high quality rips.
If you just want to rip your DVDs without any loss of quality, you could just use DVD Decrypter (it works hand in hand with DVD Shrink) to give yourself a perfect backup of the original DVD.
I'm still on Windows XP, so I can't promise the software will work on Vista. But I have no reason to think it wouldn't.

I have Vista and I use both dvd shrink and decrypter. Both work fine and dandy.

Would DVD shrink work for this....

I need to get a dvd onto the gf's netbook. netbook only has window media player and no dvd or cd drive. If I rip DVD onto desktop pc with dvd shrink, will I then be able to save it to her usb device thing so that it'll play via wmp on her netbook?

If I that'll work, where do I download dvd shrink from?

better to use decrypter i think. I decrypt movies onto my usb external drive and then they can be played with media player.
Shrink just compresses them enough to fit onto a dvd disc.

I just checked and the files that i decrypted with Decrypter can be played with media player and Im playing them from a usb device.

I would use decrypter for ripping and then if you want to compress them use dvd shrink.

Thats just what i would do... there could be a better way to do it
Download decrypter here
and you can get dvd shrink here
