A simple 2d animating program

Post by hue of fuzzpaws »

Can anyone recommend a simple 2d animation program. I have a Chronicles based project up my sleeves. I have tried using a stop motion program, which has given me a clearer idea of the general effect, however, it is soo tedious

My thanks in advance.

My brother and I were just having an e-mail conversation about animation software (which is pretty weird, considering how little we talk about anything...). Anyway, he has worked with Gimp (www.gimp.org) and Blender (www.blender.org). He pointed me toward a couple of YouTube movies done on Blender that were pretty amazing. Both are free and open source, he says, and I believe him because he is the original cheapskate.

Heh, this reminds me of when I was a kid, all the little animations Tom would to on the corner of his school books.....

Never tried Blender, but Gimp has a learning curve that's damn near verticle. Easy to use, it's not.

I use a very old Animation Shop 2, but I don't think it's available anymore. V3 is available as a 30-day trial download here. It should be fully functional, but it'll stop working after a month unless you buy it, or...fix...it.

Pretty simple to use, but not sure if it's what you want...it's frame-by-frame animation. (At least, the old V2 is.)
