Nice to see you too aliantha! It feels good to be back on the Watch. Work and other personal commitments (promised the wife I'd read "The Brothers Karamazov") have conspired to keep me away.

Good to hear you're re-reading Fatal Revenant. I've got that penciled into my reading schedule for September before AATE in October. :)

Yeah, I probably started my Last Chrons reread too soon. ;)

I read "The Brothers K" -- eventually. It's the only book I've ever had to start three times before I could get through it.

I just bought "The Brothers" from a favorite translator team... so that's coming up... and so are some Robin Hobb, and I'm re-reading the Second Chronicles and, when I have the time, Pride and Prejudice...

Time Enough For Love - Robert Heinlein

so glad i picked this book from out of a bargain bin. the only other book i've read from Heinlein was starship troopers and it wasn't what i'd expected, having seen the film. TEFL is unputdownable. it's also good to find that Heinlein wrote other Lazarus Long adventures because i've not been wanting this book to end.

MoI is still my favorite. :D

And Stranger in a Strange Land is still my favorite. :D But I only read TEfL once, years ago. I still remember how great it is. I should read it again, and would Love to. Maybe one day, when I have time to reread things. When you read at my pace, and you have a lot of books to read, it doesn't work too well.

I'm still deep in Vlad Taltos-land just finished the 7th book so have, in the last month, read:
Jherreg
Yendi
Teckla
Taltos
Phoenix
Athyra
Orca
and just ordered the next three: Dargon, Issola & Druz
I'm going through such withdrawals now that I'm starting 500 Years Later, which is one of 3 histories of the Dragarean Empire. Also bought Jhegaala, but sadly I can't read it as you have to read the books in order so I can't until I finish Druz. According to Brust's wiki there will be 17 books in the series all name after the noble houses (except Taltos, of course).

Reading The Other Wind. Le Guin sure knows how to rock some Earthsea.

Speaking of Earthsea, I wonder when we'll see the next chapter dissection of ToA over on the Hangar.

Reading "The Name of the Wind" by Patrick Rothfus
War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. Excellent, Foul!!! An incredible ending to the series!!!

Excellent, Brinn!!! A great first book!!!

Uh... Is it my turn, Menolly?

I'm back to Flat Earth. (Heh. Almost typed Fat Earth.) As I said once, I usually read at work, but, because of it's dimensions, I can't really read this there. And I took some days off after the neo proxy part. But now I'm back, having a great time with Mac and Bob. (Just finished with them.)

Yeah. One day I'll look into changing its dimensions to paperback. :P

And I just gotta say I love the name "neo-proxy". I think I really slam-dunked there when making up a name for the drug. Probably has to do with my run-ins with Japanese anime, where so many things (such as Akira) have a neo- prefix, which has always sounded like it's either near-future-exotica or a normal thing that has been super-powered/put on speed.

And yeah; Heaven's Center is the part of the novel I always give out to people who ask for samples of my writing. Just a great, very solid story. A turning point for me in the book's quality, too, though the stories before were great.

Does Jitterbug Perfume Count as Fantasy?

If it does, then thats what I'm reading.
