I read the warning, thank you all. Another immortal...new characters are popping up every where. I can't believe Linden would hand over the White Gold..I'm so tired of her constant whining... My son My son My son....To be honest, I don't think I can take another book from her viewpoint.

Is it Linden's viewpoint in this book?

Good question...but Stephen likes to shift from from character to character so you can expect to here more helplessness and whining from his fav character.

You can have that without Linden's pov.

This book - this is a spoilers thread - shifts back and forth from Linden's PoV and Covenant's PoV

After all - when either of them are 'incapacitated' (happens a lot ;) ) their PoV might be a tad restricted!
He/She who dies with the most toys wins! Wait a minute ... I can't die!!!

Looks Like their really losing control of the situation there. Story's getting a little chaotic, which might be expected if the world is going to end in a few days. We got the skurj, mad Elohim, crazy woman wielding a white ring...the damn Worm's awake and now Thoma's ring is in the hands of an Insequent. I hope Esmer hurries up and picks a side.

Ah, I see... On the one hand I am curious where all this going, on the other hand, I admit that 'The Last Chrons' - so far - haven't really touched me as the previous Chrons have.

A question though, after 'Runes' and 'FR', I thought the story had already become filled with so many powerful characters competing. How do all these new characters impact the narrative?

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Too many strong characters.

I feel the same way and it's all on Linden. What a character! First it was the non-stop grieving about her mother...now it's "my son...my son..." Stephen has given us so many great characters but I can hardly stand Linden anymore. IMHO, she's become a horrible character. It's amazing the Land that spawned Elena, Morahm and Foamfollower has to depend on this grieving whitch for salvation.

Well, to me Linden is not really the issue. The shift from the First to the Second Chrons felt jarring, yet finally organic and expansive. From the Second to the Third, not so much. I loved the hyperintensity of the Prologue of 'Runes', but when Linden arrived in the Land it all felt so muted and protracted. While I understand that Foul's strategies adjust, storywise it didn't grab me. Then with 'FR' more stuff happened, yet with all the powerful beings competing with each other, I dunno. With for instance the 'everything but the kitchensink' battle, with the Sandgorgons etc. It did not feel organic to me, but, and I hate to say it because I hold SRD dear, contrived.

As I adored the 'Gap' series, I had expected more, much more from the 'Last Chrons'. Nonetheless, I am curious about where things are going with so many balls in the air. Hence my question, why more balls?! What's up with that?

That mention of a new immortal really has me confused. I mean, the child's abilities are simply bizare, throw in the mad Elohim, his grand son Esmer, and a Raver in control of a White Gold Ring. To top it off, the 'good' wielder is more helpless than ever... Linden's lack of knowledge of all things Lore, and the lack of a Council of Lords to help, is staggering. We see Covenant already forgetting everything he knew as the Time Warden. Are we going to keep getting aid from new 'magical helpers' like the Mahdoubt? With just one book left after this, I can't see how it can come together without feeling like Stephen's going a bit overboard.

Yes. That's also why I'm curious about book 3 and 4. In the sense, how is this possibly going to work out?

OMG, I just found this. Spanner in the Works. Should be called "Monkey wrench in the works." What's a "spanner"?

This nicely describes TC in the first and second Chrons.

I just don't intend to discuss details of a book I am looking forward to reading. I'm glad Creator kept the spoilers down to a few of the highlights!
